Just have to share with everyone, I received my OW certification today. YYEEAHHH!!! The open water dives were yesterday and today at Blue Stone Quarry, oops..sorry...they want you to call it the Blue Stone Dive Resort, in Thomasville, NC. The first dive yesterday was a little un-nerving, appox. 2 ft. vis due to new construction in process. Went to another part of the quarry for the rest of the dives with 25 ft. vis---MUCH BETTER. As long as things go as planned my first ocean dive in two weeks at Key Largo. Thanks everyone for all of the tips and info I have picked up from this site. After I get a few more dives under my belt I plan on waving at you guys in front of the reefcam. 8-)

Susan....CONGRATULATIONS. So, Key Largo, eh?

Here's a good story for you - I certified in cold water Rhode Island, and that following week went to Marathon Key and Key Largo....guess what, I only did 4 other cold water dives after that!!!!

The vizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, the warmmmmmmmmth and all the other advantages of blue water diving prompted me to sell my wetsuit and 18 months later, I was living in Bonaire diving 3 times a day.

Watch out for that diving bug - it can really bite you good :):)

Be safe, good diving and enjoyyyyyyyyyy:):)

Congratulations. I am up here in NY State, but have dived many times with the people from Blue Dolphin Dive Shop. Good people and always a good time. Say hello to Robert, and the rest of the people at the shop. Tell them that the yankee Tom from NY says hello. Again Many happy dives and congratulations.

Congratulations Susan, you must be from my part of the world, I have dove Blue Stone a couple of times myself, about 1 1/2 hr from home. You will love the Keys but Bonaire is even better.

Congratulations Susan, good stuff, I have a section on the Keys on my web page under Sea Base. That's also the next trip I have booked, the Keys next April.

Ditto on the congrats! Key Largo is where we did our first ocean dives after certification in a cold-water cavern in New Mexico, about 10+ years ago. Great place to get your feet wet, and you'll probably never want to go back to cold water and low viz!
