I have one more question before we leave on Tues. I don't know if Divi will let you take out more than one tank/person or not, but if they do is it safe to leave one in the rental truck? I have read about the theft and I assume it would include tanks. I just figured on some of the dives with a long drive time we could take two each and hit a spot on the way back. Thank you all for all the information, I have learned more here than on any other site.

Mike, I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't let you take at least two tanks at a time.

Here's a few comments regarding tank theft from others. Based upon these comments and my personal experience, it doesn't appear to be a problem at all:

divi has plenty of shore diving tanks...though you might want to bring some spare o-rings;)

i believe air tanks all have dive shop markings on them - would be hard to use a "stolen" tank...

Thanks, for all the advice. I can get a few more dives a day in now.

Divi does let you take extra tanks. Ditto on the O rings. We had no problems with leaving tanks in the truck.

Well,
Bonaire is not that big to begin with, you might consider a morning dive then going back to Divi for lunch, getting the old tank filled, some leisure rest surface time and then hitting the road for your next dive. Who knows you might save some money and get some rest which would allow you to enjoy Bonaire more. Of course with a dive computer, some time motion studies you might be able to get in 4 or 5 dives a day, go the saturation route and leave exhausted. It get's a little warm when you are out of the water from noon to about 4pm so you should be able to fry an egg on the hood of your rental car for hot lunches between dives but there is now a car wash so you can clean the rental car before you return it. Enjoy :+)

Funny you should mention 0H!rings. My husband and I took two Divi tanks out to Bopec without a backup. Bad OH!ring. Fortunately a Bonaire talker and loaned us one of his and saved the dive. Thanks Gregg Brewer! Yeah bring extra rings, for sure!
