Has the ladder been replaced at Oil Slick Leap? Is that site open for diving now? The ladder had not been installed when we were there last year. We will be there in 8 days!

The Oil Slick Leap ladder is in place. We dove there a couple of weeks ago. Nice Dive.

Thanks for the response. In the past we really enjoyed diving this site.

Cynde, thanks for posting the pic. That ladder certainly looks better than some that have been there in the past!

Iris, when we were there in September of 2001, it was the rusty one that was on a last hinge...I distinctly remember us examining it and really hoping that it would hold for our exit!

Yes, I remember that one, and having very similar thoughts!

Joan, who I think is attached to Bari reef by a rope, really liked this site in February. She amazed our friends by jumping off the cliff. It was a really nice dive and easy exit. Who is the lady in the photo?

jump off the cliff area just next to the ladder...giant stride in..hang on to your mask ! many seahorses in this area and great place for a night dive if you tie light to bottom of ladder...easy exit with new ladder...don't leave anything in vehicle though..alot of smashed window glass here.....nice dive north or southern direction

Alan, that would be my new best dive buddy and friend Kelly:-) We went for a drive on a surface interval up there to check out the new ladder and the sunset:-)

I'm looking forward to renewing my acquaintance with the seahorses there next week. I missed getting to see them last year. Glad they are still there.

Iris...the ladder only has 4 steps down to the water...you can climb down the ladder with your fins in your hand and fall into the water on your back, real easy and a beautiful dive! Use the surge to get you back onto the ladder.

I did the giant stride, at the south end of the rocks, just for the fun of it! And it is an easy and beautiful dive. The deep water at the beginning of the dive lets you avoid the long swim involved in many sites.

I did notice, a couple of weeks ago :-(, a lack of large fish at that site, though there were plenty of juveniles. I'd be happy to go back again this week and see if it is any different. PBD is getting BAD!

Oh yeah, that is a great stride in spot. I've seen a copper lobster there on a night dive.

I'm very happy with this new ladder. Oil Slick Leap will be our new housereef this year (last year we stayed close to Bachelors Beach, very good too!). We'll stay just at the other site of the street!
Looking forward to see the sites in this area. Countdown started. Still 10 weeks to go. Has anyone tips how to find these seahorses? (or can't miss them?)
