Seeking opinions - Air Jamaica is only flying from Boston to Bonaire on Saturday's - our plans were to fly on July 19 but they are booked - so our choices are... switch departure date or fly American -

You could always give DCA out of Miami a try. I am on that flight (DCA)but am sweating my AA connection, if they go bankrupt, what happens to my tickets? %$#@!!!$#%##@@!! I love air travel. Another possibility, I have heard that Delta is going to start flying into Curasao. Maybe you could do that and then hop over to Bonaire.

Herman - thanks for the info - we found a flight on Delta out of Boston to Montego Bay and then on to Bonaire for July 19th - enjoy your trip - we can't WAIT!!!

herman, i too am sweating the AA thing. However, I don't believe it will effect their flights much. United filed, and they are still flying. I believe AA will do so to protect themselves from creditors. Let's hope that is the way it stays!

Isn't protection of business continuity the whole purpose of Chapter 11??? It has worked seamlessly for several American airlines over the years.

Your tickets will be fine. American will file Chapter 11 if they file at all. They will honor all tickets, and do everything possible to NOT lose whatever business they have.

We flew US Air to Grand Cayman in December while the airline was operating under chapter 11. Everything was running quite smoothly.

Glen is quite correct about the purpose of Chapter 11.

Nice to hear AA should be ok.

Judy, there will be 6 of us on Bonaire the same week as you are. We find it fun to meet other BT members over a dive and/or a meal. You interested? We will be straying at Buddy Dive.

Delta flies on Saturday to Cur. Arrives mid afternoon. The connection is through Atlanta.
They state that if your baggage does not make it,
they will get it to you in Bonaire, without having to wait a week. We will carry all our dive gear on board. Still working on the Cur to Bon part, DCA, the ferry, Divi Divi or Bonaire Excel. Lydia

Herman - thanks for the invite!! - I don't dive but my husband does - so meeting for dinner would work better for us - we are meeting some friends there from MI so not sure of our plans yet - will try and touch base once we are in Bonaire.

Annie - when we booked through Delta, they said it was on Air Jamaica...was very confusing...cause Bonaire Pros told us they could only book on Air Jamaica and it was full on 7-19 but I was able to book myself through Delta on Air Jamaica...

Lydia..may I reccommend taking ANYTHING but DCA from Curaco to Bonaire..the service and the planes are awful..I will never use DCA a gain after terrible experience in January that left us a day late in Bonaire and a very scarey ride after mechanical problems..which can happen to any flight, just did'nt care for the way it was handled..I saw the smaller flights Avia and Divi Divi take off twice while we still waited..and now the new addition makes your choices easier I hope..safe travels
