My husband and I are flying into Aruba on Delta and we need to arrange a connection to travel to Bonaire as that is where we plan on spending our vacation. We have heard nothing but horror stories about ALM and we were wondering if anyone knew of any other choices for us.

Thank you,

Claudia Bassin

You will love Bonaire, but it is easier if you fly into Curacao. All flights pass through Curacao so if you land in Aruba you will probally be stopping in Curacao anyway. FYI American Airlines flies from Miami to Curacao. Also, Air Jamaica flies from several gateway cities connecting in Montego Bay and then onto Bonaire. We have not tried it but hear the connections are very good.

Alan and Joan,

We are already locked into flying into Aruba as we are using frequent flier miles - so we are looking for a way to get from Aruba to Bonaire. We'll keep your information in mind for next time though - thanks.

Claudia

Dear Claudia,

Oh yes, those frequent flyer miles, we know them well. That's why American works well for us. We're going in August and all we have to pay is for the short trip from Curacao to Bonaire on ALM. Have a great time. Regards Joan & Alan

Hey Claudia,

If you are flying Delta (God's Airline, small joke...I am an Air Traffic Controller in Atlanta and Delta rules the roost there!) then you will just need to book a Dash 8 service (twin turbo prop airplane, seats about 30 people)to Curacao then over to Bonaire with ALM. When you book your trip, the travel agent can do all that for you. You might find yourself watching your plane leave Curacao without you to Bonaire, but there are lots of flights over daily. Just read all the posts here, make sure you confirm and re-confirm and yet again, re-confirm your flight back to Aruba with ALM so that you don't miss your connection with Delta. Let me know what day you are leaving and I will tell the pilots to say helloooo! I usually am at work on the Saturdays and Sundays that Delta goes to Aruba out of Atlanta, that is if you are going out of Atlanta. Be sure to pack a carry on with a change of clothes, all your necessities and medicines, etc....JUST IN CASE!

Good Luck!

Cheryl

Going down we had no problems, Newark(delta)to ALT, Alm to Bonaire. But as of June 1 ALM did not fly into Alt so they book us through Miami via Curacoa, Where we were delayed because of a mix up with ID for a South American on board, which caused us to miss our flight to Alt.from Miami. The people at the ALM counter where very nice and courtious, gave us a dinner voucher, but because Sun. is cruiseship day, they could only get us seats, through to Newark, which is better than stopping in ALT first, at 7pm No problem went up to the hotel lounge had dinner relaxed for a few hrs. But this is where it went wrong. Because of the thunder storms in the NY area, we were delayed from taking off untill 11pm.
Long day, our luggedge made the 1pm flight, so it was waiting for us when we finally landed around 3:30a.m. Like I say It's part of adventure sometimes. Going to try the connection through Aruba or Curacoa next time. My fligths problems were no faught of ALM's. Just the luck of the draw.
