Keep in mind, during the holidays AA has an embargo on cardboard boxes. Simply put, do not bring any? Use traditional luggage to carry any items. This embargo is strict. Trust me, I learned the hard way years back. Also there is a restriction on excess baggage in Dec. during the peak travel times. Call AA for details..a pleasant FYI.

In the past I have had to buy bags at the airport for the boxes, both for KLM and AA, both out of JFK. The boxes were ok as long as they were inside a bag!
