Hi all,

I just tried Expedia for tix Amsterdam to Bonaire and it came back with a (very expensive but) direct flight via KLM. Is this normal?

How expensive should I expect a flight to be (round trip, say we stay two weeks, adult fare) and when is the cheapest time to fly from Europe?

Regards,

--Grayson, who cannot bear waiting another year and a half to get to Bonaire, and is trying to finagle a way to do it sooner....

Grayson, there are currently 8 flights a week from Amsterdam to Bonaire and vv. We paid a little over 600 Euro for our tickets, departure the 28th of August. The price will depend a lot on whether it's high season or low season.

Shop around, from England it costs us around 800 euros to fly from our local airport, to Amsterdam then on to Bonaire. We had quotes of up to 1800 euros. KLM are a reliable airline so using flight shops is a good option.

Grayson,

Why don't you check out these websites:

* www.klm.com or
* www.reiskrant.nl (in Dutch, but understandable, you just have to fill in 'To' and 'From' and some dates and number of people)

Still, it depends on what time you want to go. December - April tends to be high season. The cheapest time would be either spring or fall.

People tend to book their flights to the Antilles a long time before they're actually going. That's why at some point there are only expensive fares left.... So, the sooner you know when you want to go, the lower your fare should be....

Peter, Kitty, Julia and Marc,

Thank you all for the information. It looks like the 550 - 600 euro range will be the best we could get. We will try not to pay more than we should ;-) .

En het nederlands is geen probleem hoor.

Regards,

--Grayson

I Booked my tickets online with Opodo.co.uk. Heathrow - Schipol- Bonaire for 4 weeks Oct/Nov. 2002 cost with KLM cost £543. And KLM gave an extra 10 kilos each for our diving gear despite the fact that I had read several times that they wouldn't. Pat
