OK---finally---90 days and counting. We are flying Air Jamaica, LA to MoBay to Bonaire. We are scheduled for about a 5 hour layover in Montego Bay. What can you do for 5 hours? Are there any "local" restaurants close to the airport where we would enjoy lunch? Anything we can get to and see in that time? Should we just bring along our books and games and hangout? Thanks for your suggestions.

Rosemary...we are also going in appoximately 90 day...leaving LAX on 29June Air Jamaica to Montego Bay with 5 hour lay over and then on in to Bonaire. We did this same schedule last year and not much to do at Montego Bay Airport except pass the time of day...Yes, bring books, games and hangout, oh, and also a snack...that's about it...We'll see you at LAX! Oh by the way...where will you be staying? We will be at Belmar again!

I was under the impression that LAX to Bonaire AJ transit passengers had access to the first class lounge at MoBay.

Rosemary-

I was in the Mo Bay airport this last Saturday. Grand Cayman - Mo Bay - Atlanta, first class. We had about 1.5 hr layover while there. There's a little bit if shopping to do downstairs in the airport, duty free perfumes, colognes and liquor. The airport itself was quite a zoo. People everywhere and just barely enough chairs/seats for everyone. Jake mentioned a first class lounge but I didn't see one. It sure would have been nice to wait there.

The only thing I would caution you about was the way they boarded the flights out. They were boarding two flights through the same gate when our departure time arrived. There must have been 300 people in line when we showed up. We just walked up to the desk, told them we were in first class, and asked if we had to wait in line. They checked our boarding passes, passports again, and sent us on our merry way. If you're flying coach, I might suggest you hang around close to the gate to shorten the wait. Or maybe check and see how many flights are leaving at your appointed time.

I'll be flying Air Jam to Bonaire in September, can't wait. By the way, Air Jam service and flight were very nice. Puts ALM to shame.

Enjoy!

The first class lounge is on the second level near the help desk. If you are facing the stairs which head down to the shops, follow the corridor (this is where all the gates are) on the left. The door to the lounge is before the customs/immigration exit and the corridor takes a turn to the right.

I hope that makes sense.

Linda-

Ahhh, now I see why I missed it. We went down the stairs to the shops each time on our layovers.

I would have to agree with staying close to your gate. We just flew AJ BWI to Mont Bay to Bonaire & then back. Sorry to disagree but if American didn't start running to Bonaire in June we'd never visit Bonaire again. You're worried about a 5 hour layover. Our horror was a 48 hour layover in Mont Bay on the way home with 2 small children. AJ took off out of Bonaire 110 minutes late. Although we were all informed that all flights would be held such was not the case we we arrived. Good luck with AJ & please be careful. Flights are double booked so stay close to your gate & be upfront in line to get on. Bonaire was wonderful though. Enjoy.
