The Continental flight out of Newark is an option for you (redeye flight) or The Delta Flight out of Atlanta, day time flight but more expensive. Both of these are non stop flights. The other option ia American Airlines but from upstate New York you will have a layover in San Juan, PR and possibly a plane change in the USA making for a loooooong day. You can also find flights to Aruba or Curacao and then a short flight to Bonaire. You will need to check web sites for each of the airlines or use a travel agent. The Continental out of Newark leaves on Sat nite and arrives on Sun, leaves the following Sun. I think Delta leaves on Sat morning from Atlanta and the following Sat afternoon from Bonaire.
We use the Continental flight out of Houston, leave at 11:30pm Friday and arrive on Bonaire at a little after 5am on Sat, leave the following Sat morning.
Hope this helps with your decision on how to get to Bonaire. Not always easy but it is part of the experience.

Andy

Susan; Don't know exactly where you are in upstate NY, but you may want to drive down to beautiful Newark NJ :-) and then catch the non-stop red eye on Continental every Sat night. Fare is approx $550-600. Seems to me may be worth the effort.

try bookingbuddy or one of those sites and see what fare u come up with.
if u have a credit card do u have any reward points on it? if so check and see if u can use them to supplement some of the cost.
i used to live in rochester ny and i know what u mean about getting out of there.
u might have to overnight at an hotel and then leave on whatever day u are looking for.
please give us more info. (i believe aa having sale. i personally don't like aa because of lay over time on san juan & time u get on island. but that's me.

We are avoiding the Continental redeye down by doing Cntinental EWR>CUR then Divi Divi air to BON, taking the Continental direct back to EWR on Sunday. I recommend researching your options on kayak.com, though.

We did JAN-ATl-BON with Delta on Saturday. The ATL-BON leg departs at about 10:00, arrives 1400.

Our return was 10 days later, on Wednesday. Tiara for BON-AUA then Delta AUA-ATL arriving ATL an hour late at 1900.
