What time please does check in commence Sat. for DL back to ATL?

When we were there in March, we checked in around 12-12:30. The "mad" rush seemed to be around 1-1:30pm... I was very glad we had already been through the line at that time!

We got there at 12:30 and the lines were wicked long and wicked slow. After we finally got all checked in though we still had time for a last ocean side drive, a last good bye to a friend, and drop off the rented truck,

Note: there was alot of confusion for all the people checking in as to when to pay the departure tax, before or after checking in and getting the boarding passes(?). Turned out you could do it before or after. So Teddy stood in line for check in while I paid the tax as the tax line was very short at the time by comparison.

Annie, I realized I did not answer your actual question, sorry. I don't know at what time check in actually starts for the flight.

I have friends who just left Bonaire last Saturday on Delta; they called ahead and said checkin can start by 9:00 AM. They got there at 9:00 AM, then were told, no, it's 10:00 AM. They were checked in at 10:00 AM on the dot, then they went home and had a relaxing time until when they had to be back at the airport.

We checked in with Delta at Flamingo at 11:00 am last Saturday (for the ~3:15 pm departure) then went out to lunch. Very quick check-in, no line. The bags were not weighed, so our efforts to make sure each bag weighed 49.9 pounds were for naught. And nobody seemed to care whether you paid your departure tax before or after checking in, despite the posted "rule."
