Oh yeah that's going to happen. The future of air travel and always will be.

The problems with airships are fundamental and have not changed since they were first tried in the early 20 century. To much surface area!!!! This kills you two ways, it take lots and lots of power to do even slow speeds, and you do not want to be in one airborne (for that matter on the ground outside a building) in a storm. Goggle USS Macon or Akron.

I did not even mention the rather dire situation on Helium right now.

I do not mean to be a spoil sport, but we need ideas on energy that increase efficiency not decrease it.

Cecil, you're not a spoil sport, but I think Roger may have just been throwing it out there as something interesting, but I have been known to be wrong before.

One thing that puzzles me with it though, what happens if that "turtle airship" decides to land on the water and a big humpback whale or other big creature like that gets in the way. I know, you thought what you posted and I thought that. :-)

Still interesting reading, didn't realize the airship ran on helium and I don't even have the foggiest idea of what that costs either. Guess I should read the article better.
