I just can't believe the rise in adult ticket prices from December 07 when we booked to go in May - $1250 to trying to book now for September - $1472 that's $222 dollar increase in 6 months. Apparently its just the taxes - not the actual airline putting prices up. I know everyone else has a similar story (hence all the previous recent discussions on the board) but I just wanted to have my moan - and stamp my feet a bit and lie on my back waving my arms and legs in the air having a major childish trantrum because it makes me sooooooo cross.
OK done now.
J
PS - won't stop me going though.

Ha Ha LOL - and if you're vegetarian you get (two hours before anyone else so it's cold when you dare to investigate it) Quinoa, Couscous, Rice, Potato (and maybe some soggy spinach if you're lucky) for whichever meal time it is. Yumm - really fancy that for breakfast!! This has reminded me to contact KLM re their Nutritionist!

Well I have been flying every month with them for the last 5 years, and nothing has changed, It is still chicken or pasta. Try that when you fly with them for 20+ hours. On the other hand the smoked almonds are great.

We are also looking at September and hopefully can transfer enough points around to cover one of us which should help.

I just looked to see how many flying blue points you need for a ticket to Bonaire. 50,000!! :-0. So I worked out I need to go 15 more times to get that many - thats $22k - and we go once a year so I'll be 60. On the up side, I'll be a very strong 60 year old as that's one hell of a lot of soggy spinach.
I wonder if we could get enough UK Bonaire lovers to buy a plane between us:-) - Wouldn't it be great not to have to fly out of Heathrow, then 6 hours later fly right back over it again. Coming home we wave to the South Coast and our house as we make our way to Amsterdam and then, 6 hours later, come back again.
Still, as I've said before, I think we have it easy from some of the horror stories I hear from folks going from the US and Canada. So I mustn't be ungrateful - just wish the price wouldn't keep going up.

Joanna

I convert my Amex points to KLM for every 4 Amex I get 5 KLM which helps. There was a charter flight from the UK to Aruba, I don't know if they are still in operation.

We try and make the Schipol trip part of the fun by getting an earlier flight and getting the train into Amsterdam for a meal and a couple of drinks.

No way you need to fly 15 returns to get to 50K points. I think it is close to 8000 points per return flight so after 6 or 7 flights you have a free ticket (except free is not really free since you still pay the taxes which is still a hefty sum)

Joanna, if you go for the cheaper fares they do not qualify for full air miles, only a percentage.
