Does anyone have experience with Continental airlines when you are already ticketed and then they lower their price by a significant amount?

I'm aware that I can track my specific RT flights on Yapta, but then what?

Do you call them or email them and then they just credit the difference to your credit card? Or is there a $75 change fee per passenger, which takes some of the excitement out of the refund?

There is a $100 change fee and then my agent would be another $15.00. Mine ended up to be a difference of $32 so I didn't bother but I believe that you call the airline directly.

There's a link on Yapta that tells you exactly how much each airline charges for a change fee. I love that...."change fee". The only thing they're changing is my once-decent price difference into a joke. Right, Darlene? I remember when they used to charge nothing, now AA is $100.

I followed a previous thread on this and it seems that Continental charges $100 for changes to standard coach, non-refundable fares. There may not be a charge for 1st class tickets.

Edward is correct. You usually have to have refundable or unrestricted fares.

We booked first class tickets for our October trip, but they carry restrictions. So, when I found a price drop that let me extend my trip and come back through Newark, I went to make the change and was charged the $100 fee. Regular non restricted first class or refundable coach would not have required the fee.

So, before making the change, it is best to make sure the price drop is enough. When we first started looking at tickets, coach from Charleston, WV to Bonaire through Houston was about $1100, hence our decision to just go for the first class tickets for a little bit more. Now, however, those coach tickets have come down to the $600 range. A drop like that would be worth the $100 change fee to rebook IMHO.

Just read the fine print in the ticket details section ...
