Just received word from our travel agent that DAE has cancelled our connecting flight to Bonaire. This was the last flight of the day, their suggestion was "maybe" they could get on a flight the next day. This airline leaves a lot to be desired, this is the second
time in two years that they have turned what was going to be a great vacation into a disaster. A year ago we missed our connecting flight home because of their "phantom" maintenance problem. If I was operating a business that was tourist related I would be lobbying the Government to give DAE a very limited window of opportunity to improve the service or pull the licence and give it to someone who cares. I love diving Bonaire, the people, the dive operators, the dining ect. but I won't be returning if this airline is left to operate like it does. Hopefully the people of Bonaire will finally get as fed up with DAE as we have and some change will happen. The people of Bonaire don't deserve what this airline is doing to their island.

Contact http://www.baibini.com/ for the Divi Divi, our most reliable air transport. Unfortunately they don't fly after dark.

Also check http://www.fly-inselair.com/

and finally http://www.tiara-air.com/

One of these may be able to get you here the same day.

Seems like chopping off your nose to spite your face.... you don't say where you're flying from but there are certainly other options when/if you book next time.
Just a thought :-)

No idea who those folks are, Freddie.

I will second the recommendation for Divi Divi - they are absolutely the best way to get between Bonaire and Curacao during daylight hours. The only problem they have is that they are so good that they are usually sold out well in advance of their flight dates :-(

I had to use DAE about 10 days ago, incidentally, and they were fine, but it was the result of a mis-connect in Miami to San Juan, which put me instead on a flight to Curacao the next morning. Since I had no luggage, I was able to connect out on the 2pm DAE flight instead of the 4:30pm one that Linda had gone to the Bonaire airport and paid for a ticket for me for the night before.

I will say that DAE's ticketing policies are beyond belief though. The kids and I got rerouted via Aruba back in January, and could not buy tickets until just minutes before the flight to Bonaire left because the ticket payment office didn't open until later in the morning.

You have a limited window in which to buy DAE tickets here in the ABCs, much more limited than the range of times they fly (I think you can pay for tickets between 7am and 5pm, but they fly between 6am and 11pm - bizarre. And there's no way to reliably buy them on-line here. Not sure how one gets a DAE ticket in the U.S.

That's another thing that makes Divi Divi so great - you call them, save a seat (assuming, of course, that they have space), and then just pay when you show up, at the same counter. None of this shuffling between multiple counters/windows to pay for your ticket (if you even can) and then get your boarding pass at another place.

Jake

Thanks everyone for the advice and assistance. Between my travel agent and Divi air we solved the problem. Divi has agreed to put on another aircraft that meets oour arrival time. The cost is only slightly more than DAE as there is enough of us that we fill the entire aircraft. DAE could learn a lot about attitude from Divi, things like paying customers actually mean something. Just glad we are going to get to Bonaire Sunday evening and won't miss any diving. The weather in North Bay Ont. Canada is freezing rain, rain and snow +1 degree. A week Sunday it should be a whole lot warmer. Once again thanks for your comments, it is nice to know that people care.

We feel the pain that you had with DAE Roy. DAE shafted us blind. In the end it cost us a lot of money and time. The only thing that DAE did for us was to talk to us like we were %&$# and informed us that they didn’t care what happened to us and that it wasn’t there problem because the connecting flight was with another airline. We were booked on the 3:00 Bonaire to Curacao to make a 7:00 connection on an Avianca flight to Bogota and still missed it.

Jake said: "Not sure how one gets a DAE ticket in the U.S."

We've bought tickets from them twice by emailing reservations@flydae.com. You just need to ask about the schedule, give them name, birthdate, phone number and citizenship. Your credit card will hold a ticket, but since it's not encrypted, I send the card number in two separate emails (best you can do.)

They do get a lot of abuse on this board but we've had good luck, and need their bigger cargo hold to bring our 60 pound dog with us. He's a big overweight charge, but Buddy is worth it. :-)

D A E is not one of my choices, I will not admit that they exsist--lol

I'd rather sit on Curacao for an extra night, than allow them to aggravate me!

They will eventually do themselves in, it's the case of " I have met the enemy, it is I"!
