Cory
From what I see that would involve an over night somewhere. The earliest LAX flight to MIA would get you on the 3:15 flight to SJU, too late for the Bonaire flight.
Maybe through Miami to Curacao and a connection with DAE.

Cory,

Miami sucks!! I hate going thru customs there, or just flying there in general!

We all look for the least expensive flights, and AA does have reasonably priced fares to Bonaire. However, flying into Miami, and then the layover in San Juan, is a KILLER as far as I'm concerned!

In the future, if you can avoid Miami without breaking the bank, I'd do it!

i dont get it guys?
there is no layover in San Juan unless you call one hour a layover?
And we go through customs in San Juan, not miami....after that the luggage is checked all the way either way

Only problem i had with Miami was on a trip home from belize we couldnt land there due to weather and got rerouted to ft meyers then to mia and missed our flight, but got the first one in the am and they paid for the hotel...
well almost, my wife cried so i didnt make her wait and took a taxi and paid the room myself, but they would have...
So whats the deal, we all cant go continental, besides ive got upgrades to business on american

I see flight AA231 leaves LAX 6:00AM and gets to MIA at 1:35 The next flight to SJU leaves MIA at 3:15 and gets to SJU at 6:40. You miss the 6:40 flight to Bon.
Thats what I see
Mickey

It must be a daylight savings time thing.
DST starts on March 9 this year in the US.

HaHa
I see my error. It's the daylight savings thing. My Palm program does not extend to March 22 and DS starts Mar. 9.
Then, to answer your original question I would say you'll be OK, but carry your prescription mask, Computer etc. with you just in case.:-)

Cory,
We've done the MIA connection several times. Miami is a difficult airport to get around but you can do it. Be sure and check the departure gate for SJU as soon as you get off the LAX-MIA flight. Sometimes this changes from what the flight attendants have announced. There could be a lot of walking between gates/terminals. Be extra careful to NOT leave security which is very easy to do.

The one hour connection in SJU will be fine IF there are no delays. Usually the arriving gate is very close to the lower floor gates 1 through 2 (to your right as you de-plane) where the BON flight will depart. Go directly to the gate....do NOT have a seat...check with the attendant at the gate...stand by the departure gate even if you are first in line.

Good luck and maybe we'll see you on island as we arrive March 18th.

Oh, I forgot to mention....I graduated from Foothill High School in North Tustin and my parents still live in the area.

I checked online just for fun and if I was flying from LAX to Bonaire, I'd give serious consideration to connecting at DFW instead of MIA.

It looked like total flight time LAX-DFW-SJU-BON was less as well.

Good suggestion, Tom, but Cory is already booked.
We also prefer the DFW connection but fly down on air miles and each year AA chooses our stops. This year it's DEN-Chicago:-(-SJU-BON. Last year they dumped us off in Curacao. BUT we loved Divi Divi and would gladly go that route again.

yes, i think it may be worth going business for a little longer flight, more champange to drink!!
Thanks
We have gone through both dfw and mia , but not to Bonaire, this will be the first trip!
iagree Dfw is pretty painless..
Thanks Mickey for trying to help, appreciate the heart attack you almost gave me! lol

Cory ...here is a map for the Miami terminal. American uses concourses C, D and E. Last year on my trip to Bonaire through Miami (Curacao route) I had to change concourses. It was a long walk but not awful and was well marked and within security.

Cory, We connect in MIA to San Juan to Bonaire.
Try to stay on the same Airline round trip. If you have a problem, Airline will fix. If you switch airlines when you get to SJU or Cur and have a problem....your done. We made this mistake one time. We always fly AA, St. Louis -MIAMI-SJU-BON. No problems.
