We came that way 1/19, no problems at all... Even on time! WITH our bags...

Alan's going back that way on Friday, so we'll have a report on the return soon.

We connected through San Juan on the way down from Boston on 1/16 and again on the way home on 1/30. Our flight from SJ to Bonaire was delayed about 30 minutes--but we noticed that ALL of the flights to various destinations in the Caribbean scheduled to leave at about 7 pm were delayed due to "maintenance issues."
We were originally worried that we'd be in a frantic rush on the way back to get through Customs, baggage claim, Security, etc. etc. in just 90 minutes, but it was a piece of cake. Nobody in the airport at 9 a.m. And all of our luggage made it, too.

i hope to give an updated report on AE from sju to bon soon. it was supposed to be tonight. but our flight to chicago got canceled and the new route was cle-jfk-sju today (wednesday), hang out in sju thursday and fly to bonaire thursday night. today the cle-jfk flight was cancelled due to weather so we're back home. now tomorrow we're supposed to go cle-dfw-sju-bon. i hope it works but there's not a lot of layover time at dfw and we have to make a terminal change too. i'll bet the sju-bon flight will seem easy after all this. i'll post a report once we're settled.

Pat -

I do hope your plans finally work out. What a lot of frustration!

I do not know how familiar you are with DFW International, but since you have a close connection and a change of planes, I thought this might be of some help: http://www.dfwairport.com/.

Buen suerte!

thanks charles, i know it will be tight. we'll be haulin' ass to get from one terminal to the other and make the flight. we'll take a cab if we have to...been there, done that. right now the important part is to finally get out of cleveland. once we get to dfw, mia, wherever, we'll figure it out from there.

Hi Diane, We came to Bonaire, DFW, SJ, Bonaire on the 31st. Our flight in SJ was delayed 30 minutes, but otherwise, all was good. It'll be interesting going back on the 14th as our connections are tight. But, we do have a couple extra days if we get delayed.

Oh, Pat. I can't believe you're home and not in San Juan. We might meet you at the airport Saturday Morning. What about driving to DTW and flying with us.

marge, it might come to that. we're trying again in the morning. hope it works out. i'll tell you all about it when we see you.

don't get me wrong, it's far from "the trip from hell" category. we've had people way they had the trip from hell when they were three HOURS late getting home. this is an 11 WEEK trip so being a day or so late isn't a big deal. we'll get there sooner or later...i'm just kinda hoping for sooner.

We have about an hour in San Juan and same in Dallas, American Eagle to San Juan, American Airlines from Dallas to Seattle. My question is, should we try to pack everything as carryons due to the short layover? That's how we came, but of course going back heavier with gifts for the grandkids, so will need to leave some stuff behind if that's the case. Thanks for your help! Sharon

It is a very long walk from where you will arrive in San Juan to get to Customs and Immigration so if you decide to do all your luggage as carry-on be prepared for the long walk. If you do checked luggage you need to pick it up between Immigration and Customs and then once you clear Customs you hand it back over to the baggage handlers before once again going through security and on to your gate for Dallas/Fort Worth.

On the 14th do carry on. It's too tight, especially if the plane leaves BON late. If you do NOT have checked bags, you can do it BUT it's very tight.
