Just wanted some feedback from anyone who has flown out of Alt to Bon. Not wanting to spend 1day in SanJuan by leaving from florida.
Thanks to everyone. This is a great info finder.

If you mean the new Delta flight, it has not started yet. Many here have done ATL to BON via Jamaica. It can be great or a flightmare. That service stops the 8th March. Where are you in FL or ATL?

Daphne, we have flown often to Bonaire from Atlanta. Actually, we are leaving Sat. via Air Jamaica. This service expires the end of February and Delta takes over the route. Currently AJ stops in Montego Bay but the Delta flight will be direct. Also, we have flown American. There are 2 options on A/A. You can go Atlanta to Miami to Puerto Rico to Bonaire as one choice. Or you can go Atlanta to Miami to Curacao to Bonaire. We have done both in one day; it is long but worth it. I have a friend who went Atlanta to Aruba to Bonaire but I think they had a day layover in Aruba on each end of the trip. Also, an option if to go to Houston and take the "red eye" from there. I hope this helps.

I am flying Delta-ATL to Curacao then Divi Divi to Bonaire in March. At the time I booked, this route was a good bit less expensive than direct flight to Bonaire.

I just did the Atlanta - CUR on Delta and it was a nice easy flight. Connection to Divi Divi in CUR was as always a piece of cake.

Travelling back the security to get on the Delta flight in CUR was a little excessive in my opinion. I bought us some bottles of water after passing through airport security in CUR. However, to get out to the plane, you had to have your carryon rechecked by hand ... and they were tossing out all liquids. So unless you can conceal your water that you purchased behind security, don't waste the money.

Also on the way back, we spent the night in Atlanta before connecting to our home airport the next day. If Atlanta is your final stop, be sure to put your duty free in your checked luggage after claiming it. Or if you are connecting on for that matter, please do the same. To exit the airport after claiming luggage and going through customs or to make a connecting flight, you have to put your bags back on the conveyor, go through security in Atlanta, where of course they will confiscate liquids and gels, and take the train to the main terminal or your connecting concourse. At the main terminal, you will claim your bags for a second time before leaving the airport. It was a long two hour process. The CUR flight landed at a busy time in Atlanta ... 45 minute wait for the first baggage claim. Patience is key ...

Enjoy!

Apart from patience, you need a little luck too, when you have a connecting flight from Atlanta.
We flew from AMS this summer to Jacksonsville and had a stopover in Atlanta.

Luggage and customs took forever. We had to bring our luggage to an unorganised area and felt very unhappy about it.
We were so right. The luggage did not arrive with us in Jacksonsville.

Apart from that, our connecting flight was not mentioned on the screens and the attendant send us in the wrong direction.
We barely made our flight.

We have flown ATL to BON several times. There is a direct flight to Aruba, no layover, then catch DAE to Bonaire. You arrive around 9. Would rather arrive earlier, but we usually use ff, so can't be picky. We usually travel on Wed, and the following Saturday, stretching out to more than a week, so this limits your options. The Atlanta to Aruba flight is daily I believe.

Back in December 2007, I bought tickets for the Delta Atlanta-Bonaire route, departing on March 26, 2008, at $628.00 per ticket. Somebody on this board (Ann P, I think) mentioned Yapta.com as a way to track airline ticket prices. Even though I had already paid for the tickets, I followed the price with Yapta and have now seen the price fall to $473.00 per ticket. Not great news for me, but it does show that if you have the nerve and discipline to hold off ticket purchases, you might get a better price. Or you may get left behind - you pays your money, you takes your chances!
