Cecil,

The linked article says that AMR may sell off American Eagle, but there's nothing that says AE will go out of existence, at least as I read it.

AA should just keep AE and SELL San Juan

It may not disappear but it's a pretty safe bet it will not be called American Eagle, although with my past experiences with them, they will not be missed.

Bob we've been trying to lose Puerto Rico for years, they are like a grown man living with his mother.

I like AE:-) maybe because it's the only way i can get to bonaire...Husband will NOT do the redeye...and won't fly a carrier that is not registered with the FAA...so, AE is our only option.

By the sound of the article, they said they will probably have problems selling AE, or spinning it off. It seems they tried it in 2002 with no luck.

What concerns me more is the statement about spinning off AAFF program...guess I better use my miles now? What does "spinning it off" mean anyway???

I agree w/ you Cyndelee. AA might not be so convenient(the long layovers). But we would rather have peace of mind knowing that the FAA oversees their operation. AJ was great, but lost total confidence in them when the FAA grounded their fleet that was in the US, as they could not provide updated maintenance records. It dosn't save much on the layover to fly Continental, and Delta was not up and running when we booked for 2008.

American Airlines will continue to service Curacao with 737's so I don't really see it as a problems, just a minor adjustment--for the better?--with maybe a price increase into Cur?

In late October I tried the Curacao route and it wasn't bad, just remember not to use DAE and everything will go smooth--lol

The problem with that is you can use American AAdvantage Miles into Curacao but then you have to pay to Bonaire and back to Curacao. Right now you can use AAdvantage Miles on American and American Eagle through San Juan all the way to Bonaire and back without paying anything out of pocket.

Marcus
that's just "plan B",in case American Eagle changes their routes. Divi Divi cost about $43 each way.
I didn't know to tell the Divi Divi pilots your a diver, and they fly under 2000 feet!---In October I had 30 hours of surface time and the pilot got upset that I didn't tell him!

$43 isn't bad. I didn't realize the price was that low. Push comes to shove, that should work.
