hey,

is the only "gotcha" associated with checking a third bag (Continental) paying for the additional bag?

the 8" dome port did me in...new foam set for the pelican 1600 case and i guess we start lugging that...

does free up a couple of pounds in the other bag however:-)

Hopefully my recent ( trip from 10/28 - 11/11) experience is unusual, but my third bag, which contained all my clothes and other personal belongings got routed to San Juan and took 6 very long days to get to Bonaire. We arrived on the Continental flight from Newark at 4:50 A.M. on Sunday morning. The bag arrived at 8:50 P.M. on the following Friday night, after numerous phone calls and nine visits to the airport. The other two bags were for Hoppner House, and they made it with our flight. That's the good news!! So, my $50 bucks for the extra bag was not so well spent. Have some paper work and phone calls to do now. And yes, I did have a bathing suit, some underwear, and pair of shorts in my carry on! Washed my clothes every night! Amazing what you can live without. Still very upsetting, though.

ouch for you, generally when they loose a bag for a bit they give u $$ for something to get you by. Suggest u call c.s. and complain alot.. I did that with AJ and got a r/t for 2 anywhere they fly gee I chose to go back to Bonaire after much phone time but during prime time and for nothing but phone time.. maybe they will give u some future credit, our trip was a nightmare... Over booking on tkgsgiving - waiting in MBJ for 3 hours getting on a plane then getting off, on tarmack looking for baggage in the rain. then off to Miami for a overnight - no hotel accomod. then getting them after almost getting arrested in Miami airport to hunt down an AJ agent at 11pm (not an easy task) to get no food for ?? hours - they gave coupons for dinner - however resturant closed by the time we got there 35 min away from airport then breakfast coupons - oh wait resturant not open before we left. oh yeah they gave us some cookies to hold us over that I was alergic to.. a bit more than lost luggage but always worth the complaint, they should at least give u something towards your next trip if you still have the documentation..

The calls are my tomorrow job. Decided to give myself a day off after traveling all day yesterday - poor baby! Made a lot of new friends at the airport. Everyone was pretty shocked at how long it took. The irony was it arrived with a great big tag on it marked "RUSH" in red! Anyway, I do believe it's unusual for it to take that long with the direct flight from Newark. Unfortunately it had been checked in Milwaukee to Newark to Bonaire and strayed to Puerto Rico somewhere along the line. Go figure. Time to take a firm stand tomorrow. Never do today what you can do tomorrow!

well, can we say "excess baggage embargo" ?

checked continental's website, baggage rules - they have this policy that says NO excessive baggage to certain destinations at certain times of the year - just my luck...

so we get to leave some stuff at home;)

"F"

:-)

Bob, bad luck, hope you have a great trip nonetheless. Maybe leave the clothes and check in at the Sorobon...

a pair of shorts and a tee shirt won't make enough difference

but i CAN leave my silly assed laptop here, buy coffee and mouthwash and shampoo locally, cut down to 3 lenses and 2 ports...

really, since it does not appear that i'm diving anywhere else i should just start leaving my stuff on bonaire:-)
