So, I've done the AE San Juan to Bonaire thing several times, got the routine down pretty well, have read all the great tips here on BT, have found Metropole for good Cuban food in Isla Verde and hunkered down at the Courtyard for food, beach and pool dunkage, given the massage therapist in the airport some business, etc, etc.

I do have one question though that I don't think I've ever seen answered: if time does not permit leaving the airport, what is the best (or lessor of many evils) for food at the airport inside of security? Everything we've tried there has been pretty bad, wondering if there's anything new or if anyone has any suggestions for grabbing lunch or dinner inside security at the airport if you just don't have any time to leave. Thanks (nine days and counting for ninth trip).

Concourse C has Subway, a baked potato place and Starbucks. It is a 10 min. walk from gate 9. If I have less than 3 hours I fork out 50.00 and go to the Admiral's Club. Internet, food, tea, views, clean bathrooms and a place upstairs to snooze.

The Admiral's club does have good food. You order it at the bar. They have sandwiches, cold pastas, etc. We always go there when we have more than a couple of hours to wait for our flight.

We ate at the asian restaurant at the Hotel within the airport when we were last there. We went to the casino, hit the nickel slots up for a jackpot, then went to have lunch. There were few people there (around 3:00pm). The service was good, the food decent.

You do have to leave the secure area of the airport to get there.

we leave the secured area and go to McDonalds...not fancy, but predictable.

Hey, We're laying over in Dallas, after a very long trip from Alaska, going to Bonaire, via San Juan. First time we've took this direction. Research the airport and it referred to AAairliners having to walk a long way. We're coming in via AA from Dallas and dep on American Eagle, should we expect a long walk? Thanks for your help! Sharon

Hi Sharon,

American Eagle is at one end of the AA concourse and your arrival gate could be at the other end, but it's max a 10 minute walk at a leisurely walking pace, all within security so there's nothing to delay you.

David

Great info! Thank you. We're here now. San Juan wasn't too bad at all. The airport definitely is a hop-to a lot of places!

I have five hours lay over on my return mid-February. Have been to Old SJ, and am just thinking of checking out the Best Western Casino --- I'm addicted to cheap slots....

Any info on the BW Casino --- and restaurant(s) in the BW?
Thanks,
Josie

Since they stopped feeding us nuts or pretzels on all flights....I'll eat anywhere.
