This from someone in Jamaica

I have been advised that flights tomorrow to and from Montego bay will either be cancelled or delayed.
The Airport will no doubt be closed some time during Saturday all day Sunday and a good part of Monday.
I would strongly advise any vacations departing tomorrow to reschedule their vacation. You really do not want to be in Jamaica at this time.
Airlines are still flying vacationers to the island to day which is, to say the least, irresponsible.
I am

Vice President of Operations
Couples Resorts.
and will be based in Ocho Rios during the week end.

A brief one hour delay is WAY better than a cancellation.

City: Montego Bay (MBJ) City: Bonaire (BON)

thank GOD so everyone can get back to the US...Jamaica may not be a pretty scene once Dean passes. One positive is he is a fast moving storm.

Ann,

I agree that airlines still flying passengers into Cayman are not doing good. Can you comment, as a practical matter, what dollar liabilities the airlines, and the Cayman government, would be subject to if they cancel the flights?

I would think that the airlines are reluctant (perhaps unreasonably) to cancel flights on their own. Likely the Cayman government should ban incoming passengers; historically what might they be liable for?

Won't be nice along 7 Mile Beach with Dean from what I have read about the past storms.

Hey Glen

Forgive me but are you talking to me? I did not bring up anything about Cayman. Sorry..wrong Ann. As far as Air Ja today(JM) they did well getting people off today and hopefully out of MBJ into the US. MBJ is not gonna be a pretty place to be for some time if the hit is as predicted. I seriously doubt any tourists are going to vacation in Cayman this week. The planes going in may be for evacuations? Again, I know nada about Cayman.

Peace Glen.

Ann,

Ah, my confusion. The questions really were meant to be addressed to your comments about AJ. I was thinking that C is in Dean's direct path and is going to be a mess also. And you are the only 'Ann' on this thread. :–)

So please read 'Jamaica' for 'Cayman' in my first 2 paragraphs. My questions (now properly directed toward AJ and really generic to air travel and therefor of interest to all here)? :–)
