FYI if you have NOT gotten your passport yet and are freaking out. BTW, mine took 2 weeks expedited and my nephew has waited since March 20 and still has no passport.

Ann, your expedited two weeks was probably a renewal. One of my co-workers had expedited a new passport for his 5-yr old son. After 8 weeks, it had not arrived, so he drove to the Houston passport office, waited ALL day in the office to get it, and was not refunded the expedite fee.
Good that the govt recognized that they have fallen behind the curve in time for the summer travel season...

Nice to hear Ann. Do you know of anyone who has actually used this exemption? I have a group coming in July and it looks like at least one of them may not get his PP. They were sent for renewal in time but looks like they may have lost his application. 8 weeks into the process, his app has not shown up on the tracking web site, the other 3 that were sent in at the same time have shown up.

I just hear on the news that anyone who paid the extra money to expedite their passport and did not get it in the 2 week time period, will be eligible for a refund. Also they said that they are relaxing the rules till Sept. If you have proof that you had applied, and have not received your passport before travel, your receipt will be ok. I am sure that this will be posted soon on their web site.
