Need advise on a good frequent flyer credit card. I will be using the card regularly for my travels to Bonaire. I've seen AA, Continental, AMX, as well as CITI card choices but don't know which gives you the best bang for the buck. Any advise greatly appreciated.

Dave:
My husband & I apply for both the AA card & the Continental cards. Here's the address to all the airline cards:
www.creditcards.com/airline-miles.php
Both are offering 15,000 miles when you sign up, which is not as good a deal as they have offered a few months ago...AA offered 25,000 miles.

We use the AA card to Bonaire & have been able to fly free for the past 2 trips.

If you have any questions, send me a PM.

We use AA for all our business expenses and have traveled to Bonaire six times using their miles program.

Last month we were routed thru Curacao and flew DiviDivi to Bonaire @ $52. I think it's a little less if you don't stay over night in Curacao, as we did. All other trips were thru San Juan.

We use the A/A credit card for their FF miles but have had difficulty redeeming miles the past 3 years. We want to go during the first 3 weeks of the year but there is very limited FF availability during this period. The ATL-MIA-CUR is the route we used to use every year.

AA/citicard same thing ,keep looking for the "fat" bonus to sign up seems to change frequently. "cheapest" seats are 30K points(coach)
"better" seats or more choices of flights/seasons are 60K. Book your flights 329 days BEFORE you want to fly(the 329 is refering to the RETURN flight) If you go by departure day the website wont let you book return , so you get stuck.
Gook luck

just used Continental miles to book 3 tickets to BON for President's Week 2008. It "cost" 70K each ticket, but I'm signed for several non-flying programs that accrue miles, including my grocery store purchases. Also have a new job that will rack up the miles quickly to replenish the account.

forgot to add, we go for the cards that give cash back.
I have a Costco AMEX that gives amazing rebates.
My Mastercard is with Citi with the rebates applied towards auto expenses.
I had a Delta Amex for years and have NOT been able to redeem the miles for anything worthwhile, so I have a FF account balance of 400+K.

Dave,

I think it may depend where you are flying from. I use my AA card because of what other people have already said. The number of required miles have consistently been less than the other airlines. Usually 30,000 for coach and 60,000 for first class from Kansas City. Most other airlines have been twice that and have fewer seats available too. I have a lot of flexibility when I fly so I have not had much problem getting seats except in the late December and early January time frame. If I can not get direct through San Juan I can almost always get tickets through Curacao. I think there were only 4 times in the last 25 trips to the Island that we were not able to get fights on frequent flyer miles with AA.

Thank you all for the useful information. I'll give the AA card a go. Thanks again

Dave
