Has anyone experienced any problems flying through Newark? When booking my flight today, the travel agent told me one of her clients had been delayed - high winds in Newark had caused her flight to be cancelled.

I don't think any of the flight options are great for trying to get to Bonaire from Toronto, but I was hoping the Continental flights would be easier (and less stops).

Hi, Dawn! We don't have any high winds in Northern NJ today or this evening....we did have some during the week when a Nor'Easter hit us on Tuesday and Wednesday with snow and lots of ice, but it's AOK now.

Joe and I are flying Continental in May to Bonaire and are looking forward to it.

Newark Liberty INTERnational Airport is known for "general" delays due to so many planes in the New York metro airspace but that's about it. With the almost midnight departure out of Newark I would bet we will be off right on time!

Have a great trip! Carole

Thanks Carole.

Our trip is planned for mid-November - how's the weather at that time of year?

Hi, Dawn. Mid November should be OK. On very rare occasions we might have a dusting of snow or something odd like that, but overall it should be just fine. Temps probably 30's-40's or so. The only month I refuse to fly out of this area after some very bad experiences is in February. Three strikes and you're out! Three trips totally messed up due to extremely poor weather conditions in the month of February.

I know you will be just fine in mid November so start counting your days until Bonaire!

I would think the main weather concern for any part of your trip at that time might be your initial flight in Canada as your weather is colder than ours...at least somewhat.

I have heard great things about the Continental flight out of Newark EWR non-stop into Bonaire. We are looking forward to it. Ayo. Carole

Hi:

I just came back from Bonaire.
The continental flights/crews were outstanding. Newark (EWR) was a mess.

Leaving Syracuse we arrived 2 hours late into EWR because there were high winds in EWR. Winds were 30MPH. We left @ midnight right on time.

Coming back from Bonaire, it was mess. The ticket counter machine printing luggage tags was broken. They had to hand write everysingle luggage tag. We were at BON at 430 am. We joined a long line. There was only 2 people writing and getting the line moving. We left BON at 835 pm rather than 700. The flight crew were very apologetic even though it was not their fault.

We arrived in EWR 1.5 hours late thus our 3 hour layover was reduced to 1.5 hours. Security line in EWR was very long. We missed our flight even though I told security about us. They did not give a f---. The rest of the flights to our home town were either totally booked or at least 10 hour from present time. I ended up driving to Syr from EWR by renting a car. EWR to SYR was 4 hour driving.

Calling CON the next day: we will get reimbursed for unused portion of ticket (about $15!!!!!!!).

What can I tell you?

I will drive to EWR next time.
P.S. Buddy Dive was fantastic. When we arrived at 6am, we went right into our room rather than wait until the normal check time.

My flight gives me a 2 hr 40 min layover in Newark before flying to Buffalo.

Is that enough time, assuming the ticket machinery in Bonaire doesn't break down?

thanks

ok...giving continental a shot (from columbus, OH)...8 hrs in Newark on the way down, 4 hrs on the way back...not sure san juan will seem so bad after that

(15% less than the last AA trip;))

I think 2 hours 40 minutes is enough.
I called CON the next day and talk with them in a non threatening way. Today, I received 4 vouchers for $65 off my next trip. I do like them and felt things are not always go like clock work. They were trying and thats all I care.

Ms. Parnell please let me know how things work out for you. I will check this section.

Bob, We're trying the same flight schedule as you (in May). Just received notice that our return flights had been drastically changed from Newark to home. It may be a seasonal change but suggest you check yours just in case. When are you going? Look forward to your report on how this flight arrangement goes. We're hoping for Cleveland to Bonaire next!
