Sorry to bring this topic up again but I couldn't find what I wanted via a search.

Air Jamaica has the best schedule for us (Philadelphia) but, since it only flies once/week there is the potential for a big problem if one of the flights going down is delayed/canceled.

I'm curious as to what happens if the MB-Bon flight is cancelled. The one case I saw had them rerouted to Curacao and then on to Bonaire but doesn't that create a problem with the large number of people trying to book onto the small Cur -> Bon flight?

I'm interested in seeing how many people had to be rerouted in the last year.

Please let me know :
How many flights from Jamaica --> Bonaire were you scheduled to take and,
How many times did you get rerouted.
Any info on the new route and what that entailed would be appreciated.

As for myself the answers are
1 booked
0 rerouted

Hi Ed,

I've booked (and flown) AJ from Bonaire to Philly twice since October. The flight leaving Philly has never been a problem, as it's really early and the plane is there waiting for you. Going from Mobay to Bonaire there have been slight delays, but nothing more than 30 minutes.

Getting from Bonaire to Mobay and then back to Philly is a different story. The first time, in October, my flight left Bonaire 1.5 hours late. I got to Mobay thinking I had missed my connection, but instead they just cancelled my flight. They put me on a flight to JFK (with a first class upgrade) and then gave me a limo to my house in South Jersey. I didn't get home until 2 am. The second time, the week of Christmas, the flight left Bonaire late again. We got to Mobay 10 minutes before my plane to Philly was scheduled to leave, but the flight left early without me! They couldn't get me on the JFK flight this time, so I was forced to stay overnight in Jamaica and take the 6 pm flight to Philly the next day (on Christmas Eve). They put me up in an all-inclusive resort, which was ok, but not the same as being home for the holiday.

So, both times AJ has failed to get me home to Philadelphia as planned. The problem seems to be the plane coming into Bonaire is always late, which makes you leave Bonaire late and then miss your connection in Mobay. They need to increase the connection time (or get on schedule!) I wouldn't fly them again to get from Bonaire to Philly, it's completely unreliable. My advice to you would be to drive up to Newark and take the Continental so you don't have to worry about connections. My mom is here visiting me on Bonaire right now and that's what she did. Her flight actually arrived here 40 minutes early!

So in short....

2 booked
1 delayed for a whole day
1 changed to JFK

3 Booked , One time no plane showed up to take us home, put us overnight in Montego Bay. One came late from Bonaire and held the plane for us in Montego bay to board a plane of ticked off people because AJ held the plane for us. One no problem, just a bit late. Continental now for us

Flown AJ from BWI at least 7 times.

1) Plane late to leave Bonaire; missed connection in MoBay. AJ put us up in an all inclusive overnight. Ate and drank to my heart's content.

2) Plane late to leave BWI due to heavy thunderstorms the night before causing the incoming flight late and pilots needed the mandatory rest time. AJ put us in the Ritz Carlton with food vouchers. Not too bad. Got to Bonaire the next day. (This was when there was more than one flight per week)

3) Same trip flight canceled home due to a hurricane crossing Jamaica. Left Bonaire a little late the next day, they held the BWI flight.

Fortunately we were staying for two weeks and I built time into the backend of the trip for travel issues.

Most trips were flawless. I love the arrival time; when they make it.

Jeff
