Thanks for the info, YanaGirl! We won't get the bonus points as we will be flying to Bon in May but we're sooooo happy they are flying from Newark into Bonaire non-stop now! Carole

Does anyone know if Continental ever offers frequent flier seats on their flights to Bonaire?
Thanks

Steve,

I see you are from Minnesota (me too), so if you have Northwest Airlines frequent flier miles, you will be able to redeem them for a flight on Continental. Northwest and Continental are "SkyTeam Partners" and share flights.

I recently redeemed Northwest miles to fly to Bonaire through Houston in March. Unfortunately there weren't any seats at the minimum mileage rate so I paid "through the nose" in mileage to get a "free" round trip flight.

Just be sure to make your reservations through the Northwest reservation system. Call their 1-800 number out of the yellow pages, they will charge you $10 per person for the luxury of talking to a human being. If you try to do this on Northwest's website, it won't offer you the Continental flights as an option. You can't call Continental to redeem Northwest miles (I tried this!), you must call Northwest.

Good luck, and may the force be with you.

Amy

When I looked at Continental yesterday, a round trip from EWR to BON was 35,000 miles each way, each person, for 140,000 for two people round trip.

Hi Amy from MN. You are right. I would like to redeem Northwest miles for the Continental flight but every time I call Northwest to get assistance they can not seem to see any seat available any time. I told them I was willing to go anytime if I just could find frequent flier seats. I don't think the computers let them search by a big range of dates and they have to keep punching in exact travel dates and hope to get lucky to find some. They told me the airlines release the seats at varies time and it is hard to catch them. I don't have time to check back every day or every week and check all the possible dates that might have seats available at the normal 35000 mile rate. There must be an easier way. We booked American for this Feb but am thinking if I start now for 2008 I might be able to figure out how to do it. It seems that many others on Bonaire talk have used mile to get to Bonaire. The one nice thing with American this year was that the price went down $575 for 2 adults and 2 kids from when we booked in late October and were able to get a full credit in January. Any advise on how to use Northwest miles on Continental for our next trip would be great. Thanks

Wow it looks like my status just change from "new talker" to "Bonaire Talker"

Steve,

Now you know why I said "Good luck, and may the force be with you"!! :-)

I have to believe that these 35,000 frequent flier mile seats DO exist (just as I have to believe that baby pigeons DO exist, even though I've never SEEN one), but I have yet to capture one for myself. Airlines make it very difficult, don't they?

It might be easier to find the Holy Grail or Jimmy Hoffa's bones! I hope some clever person or company comes up with a better way of searching for frequent flier mile seats.
