Anyone have any recent experiences traveling from BWI to Bonaire on Air Jamaica?

Last flew that route about 2 years ago. Will look forward to any comments on recent experiences, as next two trips are Air Jamaica from BWI. When we last did that trip, AJ absolutely enforced its weight limits on checked bags (check their current limits on their website) and also limited passengers to only one carry-on plus a woman's purse. Did not allow computer bags as the equivalent of a purse, although some people ignored that rule and carried more than one item on-board. Suggest doing a search of recent posts on Air Jamaica.

Flew AJ BWI-MOBAY-BON back in September 06 the only problem was they would not allow us to carry our regs in the cabin, we had to check them. No big deal though. I did go over the weight limit a couple of kg's with no problem. As for the extra bags and PC cases seems like everyone is taking more than allowed. Plane also departed one hour late but that is par for AJ but since the plane to MoBay was the same one going to Bon had no problems. We are getting ready to book a May 07 flight with AJ. Enjoy your trip!

Jenny has flown AJ twice in the past few months.

1st time they cancelled her connecting flight from jamaica to philly. Rerouted her to newark and then gave her a limo ride all the way down to philly.

2nd time the bon to jam flight was late and they didn't hold the philly flight and ended up making her stay over night in jamaica.

Both times they treated her well, upgraded to 1st class and put her up in a decent resort hotel when she got stuck in jamaica overnight. BUT, I don't think she will be flying with them again, and I certainly wouldn't recommend relying upon them if you have any type of time restrictions.

I recently read that Air Jamaica flies out of Boston, but went toi their web site and saw no such thing. Any reasons why I got conflicting info?

They USED to fly from BOS to Mo Bay. We are TRYING to get them to resume service. But I don't think it's too likely right now... :-(

AJ is starting an online check-in service before arrival at the departure airport for e-ticket holders. It includes seat selection and boarding passes and a special airport line bypassing the counter. Might be interesting. I hope someone here will use this and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for this update Glen....great feature! Looks like it's currently only offered in FL. We fly first class from BWI when using AJ but this will be a welcome thing to offer it's coach passengers. 'Bout time!!!

Probably those 2 gateways have the largest gridlock and if all goes smooth there then it will soon be available at other departure cities.

Kobi
