Alert, I have some clients flying to BON in Jan. and they alerted me the price of air has dropped so they can receive a refund on air already purchased. Check your tickets to see if you qualify.

Just did a Chicago to Bonaire for April at $546 all inclusive that's more like it AJ. For those of you like me who would like to be in Bonaire every year but can't I'm settling for every other year but for a longer stay. Next year is three weeks to enjoy Paradise.

Well--- Air Jamaica is not doing great financially and some severe changes have to be made for it to survive. Look at these two articles.

This was really a surprise. We just booked our air on AJ for our trip next May - for the past 3 years the first class fare was $1100 pp.from ATL This time they called it business class at $696 pp.Still can't figure it out - they are not competing with anyone on price out of ATL.

What do I need to look for on my tickets to see if I qualify for the reduction?

You need to call your travel agent or the person who did your tickets (?Air Jamaica) and ask what the price is today for the same tickets. If the price is lower most airlines (AA for instance) will issue a refund voucher.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop the flights to/from other islands. They are struggling & these flights do nothing for the Jamaican economy, which is the only reason the country can cite for funding their losses.

The point was, they had a pretty good network at one time; I suspect it could have been rather efficient. Daily flights from about 10 US cities to Mo Bay, then people switched planes and flew on to their destination island, if not Jamaica itself. Good aircraft utilization that way.

AA refunds easily and promptly. Tom, I am sure 9/11 impacted them but when Mr. Stewart left and the Jamaican government took over, there is when I saw a sharp decline in services.

I hold $570 pp tickets on AJ for January. I called and they will not issue a refund but will reticket with the mandatory cost penalty. The end result for me would be a $5 cost pp. Obviously I stayed with my current tickets.

I totally agree with Ann, and have said this before on this forum. The Jamaican government took over AJ and it went to hell. It has gotten a bit better in the last year, but it was in shambles for a while. It is still no box of chocolates.

Hi, gang. What days does Air Jamaica now fly to Bonaire? And, do they only fly from Miami, or do they also fly from Montego Bay?

I know it flies from Chicago to Bonaire on Saturdays, and from Chicago to Curacao on Tuesdays... not sure about the rest of the country. Both these flights are via Montego Bay. I'm quite sure I've heard about east coast flights also on Saturdays. Hopefully some eastcoasters will chime in.
