A couple of mentions:

1. flight 1334 from San Juan to BOS now leaves at 2:55 (Oct. flights and on) instead of 11:30 creating a long travel day home.

2. I tried to book a Continental flight and the last flight I can find out of BOS to Newark is at 5:30 so thus creating a LONG layover in Newark. The prices are high, over 800.00 USD rd trip.

3. AA leaves BON at 7:15 AM BEFORE Daylight Savings Time in early Oct. Why I wonder?? 8 was so nice.

I tell you Ann, we are looking at an October trip and the Curacao route is looking better and better. Arrive at 9:00PM and leave at 7:00AM, pfffft.

Has anybody heard about the new service that Continental will be offering from Newark directly to Bonaire? Supposedly begins 12/16/06 and will allow passengers to connect from many cities.
We used to fly nonstop to Aruba (from Washington DC), stay there for a week, and then fly on to Bonaire via DAE. But this year we're moving to Cape Cod and will have to fly out of Boston. What's the best itinerary? We'll be staying in Bonaire for 2 weeks (YAY!).

Donna, last I looked if you go from BOS there is about a 5 hour layover in EWR waiting. Also last I looked air for some dates was over 1k pp. Let me know if you find different. Personally I would prefer taking Air J from Newark.

Ann, Another change AA has made is the departing noonish flight from Boston to San Juan. We were booked on that for Feb 2007. After an email from my daughter saying that here flight was changed, I called AA and was told that the noon flight is no longer there, so it puts us on a 9:30 am flight. So not only will we have a long layover on Bonaire -San Juan-Boston flight, we will also have the same long layover on the way to Bonaire.

I just received a notice from AA that they stopped their 3:40 flight from San Juan to Phila. flight on Nov. 12th and they switched me to another AA flight and now I go to Miami, then Phila and get home the same time though. I don't like Miami at all, but the other case was having to be in San Juan from 9:30 am and not leave till 7pm. That is a bit too long of a layover for me. They also said it will probably change again, and they will let me know. I am afraid to see what is going on with my Feb. flights I have booked already, seems they go through quite a bit of changing flights times from what the girl I talked to said. I do hope they put that time slot back in and I can keep my original time by then in Nov.. Time will tell. Ah, the joy of flying, always an adventure.

Even odder Jan, I just bought a northbound ticket for Jan. and NOW there is an hour layover SJU to BOS which is NOT enough if the lines continue as they were last Sat. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...it's barely a legal connection.
:-(

Ann,
When I spoke with the AA rep, she told me that there wouldn't be enough time to catch the earlier flight to Boston. An hour isn't long enough, not only the delays in Bonaire, but you also have to go thru customs in San Juan. I hope you make it.

Thanks all for the responses. Very helpful. To summarize all of the info from various sources, I understand that as of today, DAE is the only way to get from Aruba to Bonaire. There are no boats. The flights on any given day may be sold out, so you have to book in advance. The flights are not direct, they go through Curacao. DAE does not presently allow booking online but this feature is supposed to be coming before end of this year. Coming from Boston, I am told that despite criticisms appearing on this site, the flights through San Juan are the most efficient and reliable. Thanks again and have a great winter in Bonaire. We will be making a day trip last week in January to Bonaire from Aruba to investigate month long accomodations for the future relative to Aruba and Curacao.

Jan,

AA changed my flight to the horrible 3:55 flight so to the Waterclub I go north next year. Bummer...

Larry, trust me, having done the same route as you many times AA via SJU makes the most sense.

Annie
