I've been watching the AJ fares, too. I've been checking on their xmas flights from BON to Philly. Since about 2 months ago, their xmas fares seem to have gone down at least $100. Their website has also changed, & i don't think it lets you choose your seat anymore, at least not for the least expensive 'fare rule'.

Dave, that's as good as I've seen it anytime of the year. Good on you.

Dave, I'm going to cry...a little. My buddies and I are on the same flight as you on Oct 28th and we paid way more. If you see a 5' 9"ish guy with greying short hair and glasses getting pummeled at the gate, that's me and it will be because I convinced these guys to book early and they will have found out what a great fare you got.

Oh well, at least we'll be diving.
Rob

Only on Saturdays. Miss your flight, miss your vacation.

Cecil,

I beg to differ....... we once showed up at O'Hare at 4:00am for a 6:30am AirJam flight. Well, there were mechanical problems and the flight had been cancelled.

AJ already had us booked on Delta to Atlanta and on to Aruba. Then connecting with DAE to Bonaire.

A little more hassle, one extra connection, and a bit later arrival time, but we did not miss our vacation.

Does this happen all the time? No..... will it happen again? I hope it would, but who knows.

Flying the airlines is a complete gamble. In my previous life I spent more than 75% of my time in business travel. I firmly believe that there is no such thing as a "good" airline. On any given day any one of them can be the best or the worst........

This October will be the 10th trip to Bonaire that we have made with Air Jamaica 11th trip overall. In all of those flights and connecting flights, we have never been more than one hour late to Bonaire (above trip being the exception). On one trip we were delayed at MoBay returning for three hours. And on one trip home we lost one piece of luggage. It was delivered to our house two days later. All things considered, we have had very little problems, and have never missed our vacation.

Again, flying is a crap shoot. And the way I look at it, even a bad day of traveling beats the heck out of a good day at work......

Dave.

You're right, Dave, sorry I was feeling snarky. I'm sure that AJ would get you there some how. Also true of American through San Juan and Continental through Texas/Newark.

With respect to Bonaire there is still no good, reliable, or inexpensive way there.

Cecil,

I was a little snippy too. Sorry.

You would think that with less than three months until a Bonaire trip - a two week trip at that! - that I would be in a better mood......

B.A.S. (Bonaire Anticipation Syndrome) tends to make me edgy.... just can't wait to get in the water!!

Take Care,

Dave.

Here's an interesting analogy, getting to Bonaire is very similar to the crime problem. They are both fairly minor (in the greater scheme of things) yet both cause over reaction, hyperbole, and over reporting. The last is what's most interesting, you can bet your booties we'll here of every bad thing (trip from hell/petty theft), but almost never hear of the thousands that survive unscathed. But is that not also true of news in general.
