Please let's hear from all the seasoned Bonaire travelers--how does this help??

I forgot to mention that it's from JFK to Aruba!

Personally it does not help much. You still need to fork over 200+ for the DAE ticket. If the Jet Blue flight is late or cancelled and you need to rebook DAE you may not be able to if it's around a busy travel time which is often. We have softball tourneys in Aug., the 3 islands always have some holiday. I have had a few clients stuck in Aruba for DAYS when incoming flights on USAir and other carriers were delayed. It's your call. To me the shortest distance between two points is a straight line..Sat. - Sat., Air Jamaica or CO and other days AA via San Juan or via MIA to Curacao.

IMHO

We known about the new Jet Blue flight here at BT for some time, of course.

Minimal impact, as Ann says. I'm waiting for someone to start flying nonstop MIA-BON on daily basis again, as ALM used to do :-(

Certainly not the answer to all our woes, but a darn good deal for some. I just put in random dates and got one fare of $129 and another of $169. DAE website says $77 one way, although obviously the getting stuck in Aruba is an issue. Maybe we should all lobby Divi to add Aruba...

"DAE website says $77 one way"

Yes, this translate to $219 RT after all of the taxes/fees. Just booked this last week.

My, those pesky taxes do add up! Still, $400ish from NY to BON is a great deal.

I think it is actually about 400ish NY to Aruba RT (at least when I enter the October dates I am considering), then the DAE of about 219 RT gets the total up above 600 which in comparison to other options may not be worth the risk of missing the DAE flights.

My problem is I can get the Jet Blue for free on standby which makes my RT cost just the DAE of 219 each - but at a big risk that I can't get on the Jet Blue flight to eventually get to Bonaire -which would be a problem with my deposit on a hotel in Bonaire. Saving the Jet Blue part of the flight costs, for two people, is a big incentive for me. I am waiting on seeing how full the flights will be as time gets close before deciding :-)

Is it possible to get a email campaign started, aimed at the Jet Blue E-mail center. The person I spoke to said that Jet Blue does look at what their perspective customers have to say!! The object of the campaign would be to ask Jet Blue to start service to Bonaire?
what are the pros and cons of this action?
Bill

Take a look at the current JetBlue route map here http://www.jetblue.com/travelinfo/routemap.asp
Click on the city of interest to see flights they already have.

To me, it makes the most sense for them to add a flight to Bonaire from their Fort Lauderdale hub. They already fly to FLL from three Northeast metro areas and two CA areas. Not sure if flights from CA could connect to the FLL-BON flight easily, but they should be able to fill a plane with ppl from DC/NY/BOS/FL several days a week.

Let's go for it!
