I think it is more than just rumour ...
-- Continental will add for high season a mid week flight from Huston
-- Continental will try in high season a direct flight Newark-Bonaire (for the moment limited to 4 months trial)
-- Air Jamaica will add a direct flight Atlanta-Bonaire
-- KLM will start in January 3x week a flight Amsterdam-Bonaire-Panama
-- KLM will stop in April the flight Amsterdam-Bonaire-Lima

By direct do you mean "non-stop"? Usually direct implies same plane but with a stopover.

Thanks, Brigitte....what months are "high season" on Bonaire? We usually go in May/June and I know that is the "off" season....hope it works out well with the "experiment" of four months and they will continue the non-stop out of EWR...our home base!

Brigitte,
I was just about to book ATL/MB/Cur, and Divi to Bon, because I want to spend 10 days, but you've got my attention with a non stop from ATL, as we go in Feb. I plan way ahead since I use Delta FF. Any idea what day the flight is, or when this might be firmed up? Diane

I will try to find out next week - I think they always adjust their web sites in August for the winter season ... perhaps somebody remembers when the Continental Houston flight showed up on their web site last year ?

The Houston-BON Continental flight was announced in late July 2005 & began in December.

As someone who currently holds non-stop Newark-Curacao tickets for next February, I plan to be the first to call Continental with credit card in hand to happily pay the $100 change fee to switch to the non-stop.

The Bonaire Reporter this week lists the ABC inter-island airlines, including a new one based in Bonaire, EZ Air, and Air Insul, based on Curacao. EZ Air expects to begin operations by October to C, Aruba and Venezuela. They will join Divi Divi (now a 'scheduled airline'), DAE, E-Liner and Tiara. It seems that soon it may be easier to get to Bonaire through Curacao and Aruba.

Looks like the Houston mid-week flight will not happen... is not 100% off, but certainly not on
