I need to fly to CUR and still find it staggering to have to pay 184,00 naf to fly there. DAE charges 184, Divi charges 10,00 less. How is E-Liner? They charge 160,00 so I may go that route. Is it me or are these prices skyway robbery??

:-(

Robbery, yes...

I was checking out inter-island flights in HAWAII mainly to see what size aircraft they use for 100 to 200 mile flights, in comparison to what the Netherland Antilles have.

But I was pleasantly surprised to find that you can often fly for $39 each way (Oahu to Maui, for instance).

I guess that's what competition and passenger volume does for you...

Ann, Is this for RT or one way. Just checked on flights from Hyannis to Nantucket... $100 PP plus tax RT

$39 each way, that makes $ 78 , so add the airport tax and you come to $100, which is about the price you pay Bonaire-Curacao RT flights

In the "spirit of competition", Mesa Airlines ( based in Mesa, Arizona) has also added interisland flights in Hawaii. They fly under the name of " GO AIRLINES". They are flying small, 60 seat, REAL JETS.
They are giving the people of Hawaii additional "options" for interisland flights.
In truth, many flying to Bonaire, especially from the U.S., simply would like some choices other than:AA/AE; Continental ( once weekly), and Air Jamaica to get to the Bonaire destination.
It would be nice.
Safe travels, good diving.

Actually, the Divi website http://www.baibini.com/passagestartseite.htm claims NAFL 69 (US $40) each way between BON & CUR, so that's pretty good. Airport facility charge of NAFL 10 or 12 is extra.

So roundtrip BON-CUR is NAFL 160 or US $92, not too terrible.

It was unclear in Ann's original post whether she was talking one-way or RT.

Sandy ,
Mesa Air one of the biggest commuter-specialist in the US, uses the Canadair CL600 Regional Jet, for their operation, right?(under the name GO AIRLINES)
As I understood these guys jump into the Hawaii market in the "spirit of competition" indeed, competing with the other Hawaii based airlines.
Thats a very comfort idea for travelling, flying with a small "staTe to the art jets" between the Hawaii island.

Soon there will be more competition down there as I understood from my friends. This new airline Insel Air, starting soon with the Embrear110 19 seater claims bringing lower fairs for travelling between the ABC Islands.
So competition is increasing more and more, and I guess you can expect lower prices soon.
The Embrear 110 has proven to be an excellent aircraft for cheap and fast travelling between the ABC Islands in the past(Former Aruba based airlines called Avia Air)

see link below for picture Insel Air aircraft:

and this one for the above mentioned Mesa Air GO Canadair CL600 . These guys sure know how to give travelling service between the Islands of Hawaii!

We just paid $220 PP RT from Aruba to Bonaire on DAE. It was $370 RT from Boston to Aruba. I think DAE is a little over priced. They need competition!

Lisa,

Divi Divi got this week a certificate to operate with sheduled flights.
They used to do charter flight only.

With this new certification they are able to do more daily flight and thus getting the optimum out of there 4 aircraft fleet.
There you go!! More competition between the ABC islands.

Lisa Divi divi has plans to fly Aruba- Curacao .
Im not sure if the already started with Aruba-Curacao on a charter base.
You will probably have to do a stop in Curacao (same as the other company) before you continue to Bonaire.

As far as I know, the only ones who flies Aruba to Bonaire are DAE. That is why it's costing me almost as much to fly the final leg of the journey as it did to get to Aruba from Boston.

You'd think since so many "major" airlines can get us to Aruba from the US, there'd be more choices to get from there to Bonaire.

Currently three companies operating out of the Dutch Antilles
There is also a charter company that just started (again). E-liner airways.

And one out of Aruba (Thiara)

Probably one more to come soon.
