I am going to Curacao and Bonaire for my honeymoon in two weeks and just found out that ferry service between the islands has been eliminated. I began looking into flights and read several older postings about flights between Curacao and Bonaire. I sent an email to Divi Divi Air requesting information and have read some things about Bonaire Express. However, I cannot access their website. Does anyone know how to get ahold of Bonaire Express and are these the only two flight options? It sounds like both are less than reliable services. Since the majority of our trip will be spent in Curacao with only three days in Bonaire, is it worth the hassle going to Bonaire in the first place? Any advice/suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Bonaire Express is now DAE (Dutch Antilles Express)... not sure of the website but a search here should give you that. I've flown Divi Divi and they were great.

As far as going to Bonaire... depends on what you want. Great diving, but if only on island for 3 days, you can't dive the day before you fly so not much time for that. There are lots of other things to do - the National park (Washington/Slaagbai), blocarts (air powered go-carts), windsurf, etc. More people I'm sure will chime in here on spending time on Bonaire... I for one would skip Curacao, but that's just me.:-):-)

Michael,

We too will be honeymooning in Bonaire the last week of July ... flying from Philly to Aruba then taking Dutch Antilles Express to Bonaire (with a brief stop in Curacao) ... here is the DAE website:

http://www.flydae.com/index.htm

I e-mailed them the information per the directions on the website and received a call within 24 hours ... gave the credit card info over the phone, appropriate charges appeared on my card and that was all there was to it ... the woman from DAE who contacted me was very professional and pleasant ... you can find schedules on the website, there are numerous flights each day ... we also looked at Divi Divi but as they don't fly from Aruba we stayed with DAE ... while both these airlines are not exactly what we are use to in the states I'm confident given what I read you'll arrive in Bonaire safely and generally on time ... and if you want to increase the adventure factor book with Divi Divi and request to sit in the co-pilot seat, try doing that on Southwest!

Congrats on your marriage,
Bill
