I'm wondering where we can go only taking one flight from Bonaire. We will be on island for over 2 months and would probably like to visit another island at some point. Traveling with 2 small kids and pregnant - so it has to be easy - meaning one flight away.
So, where can I get to and how much is a round trip ticket?

Well one flight from Bonaire include, Curacao, Aruba (kind-of, you may stop in Curacao), San Juan, Amsterdam (not a short flight), Caracas, Fort Worth. Those are all I can think of.

Curacao is probably your best bet for a day trip. It's a 15 minute flight and a very big island to explore.

Marji -

Although I doubt you wish to make such a long trip, I respectfully would suggest that the last destination Cecil lists, Fort Worth, actually should be Houston. Continental flies once a week non-stop to Houston.

If there is a non-stop between Fort Worth and Bonaire I really, really want to know about it!

Not an island, but a nice city and area to visit is Quito Ecuador. Non stop on KLM. Probably not cheap airfare though. Beautiful scenery and not far to the famous Otovalo market.

I vote with Mickey...Quito is absolutely beautiful!!! The Otovalo Market should not be missed. Landing at the airport is an experience in itself.........

Kathy -

Bon bini a Bonaire Talk!

I think the Continental schedule out of Houston should work just fine. The non-stop routing is great and the fact you are leaving out of Continental's home hub means that equipment problems, etc. should be minimized.

We usually use AA from DFW to San Juan, then American Eagle to Bonaire. In three trips we so far have had good luck. Only one small delay and no luggage lost.

The advantages to the AA routing are that there are several flights a week, you're not flying in the middle of the night (redeyes are not our favorite), and the elapsed travel time is not too bad considering the distance and destination. The return flight requires a brutal (for someone on vacation) boarding time, but the good news is that you get back in DFW at a most reasonable hour.

Hope this helps and feel free to write me directly if more specific DFW information would be beneficial.

Warning: it is quite possible that you are going to fall in love with Bonaire!

Actually KLM sometimes has specials from BON to Quito and Lima..I had a friend pay around 560,00 naf once round trip in March/April.
What else is there to do there in Quito..I want to go while we still have that opportunity with KLM.
