I've given up on AJ, and booked the continental red-eye from Houston which gets into Bonaire in the wee hours of the morning. Does anyone know if any of the car rental places are open when the Houston flight arrives?

Hi Janette! If you book in advance someone will be there to meet you from your rental company. I have come in from Amsterdam in the wee small hours. However there are always taxis if you think that the driving will be too much after the flight. I find an e mail to the car hire firm a couple of days before travel can help:-)

Janette, Julia is correct. The rental company will have someone there to meet you. Take Julia's suggestion and email to confirm before your trip (I'd do it a couple weeks before the trip).

Janette- we just returned from Bon and I'm already planning the next trip! We came in on the red-eye flight too. Some rental places were open, I noticed AB and Island Rentals.
Arrival at 630 isn't really the "wee hours" is it? Don't the wee hours end at daybreak? I've lost my elfin rule book ;-D.
We really liked the early arrival. Normally we lose Sat as a travel day, so we felt we gained vacation time!! The plane is a 737 and not the greatest for a 5hr flight, notably more cramped than AAs MD80s which are not big either. Slept as best we could in flight then stayed up all day. I got a bit off center on what day it was and when was yesterday since it continued to be Fri in my mind. Got situated at the house, went down to City for breakfast, gathered our gear and did our orientation dive at Yellow Sub about 1130.
We came in on AA in Nov. Our travel day was 15 hours. Unfortunately, we don't live near a major airport so multiple layovers really drag the day out. This travel day/night was actually 18 hours but going at night was much better. Next time will only be 13(yeah!) due to less layover time with different airline to Houston.

I remember reading that the flight times changed last weekend. Did a quick check and yes, arrival is now 4:45 AM. Definitely wee hours! :-):-)

With a confirmed reservation, the car agency will be there to greet you. No fear! But always re-confirm a week or so before arrival.
