Hi, Finally my brother and I switched flights and are coming thru Curacao this Friday. Unfortunately we land at 2pm but cannot get to Bonaire til midnight due to no space on earlier flights.
Any suggestions for must see and do for 2 snorkelers while killing almost 9 hours on Curacao.
I have heard that you have to be a careful on Curacao - true?
thanks

David, you will find a recent thread deals with visiting Curacao on a day trip.
The difficulty you will encounter is that the museums close in the late afternoon, and you're not arriving till 2.
Taxis are quite expensive.
Not sure whether the Curacao airport contains a luggage storage facility. (Aruba's airport does not.) Does anybody know? You cannot check in your luggage with DAE until many hours after you will land.
If you still want to cross the island (not a long distance; it's long but narrow) to Punda and Otrabanda, I loved Kura Hurlanda Museum, which is also a great place to eat. The exhibits cover black history from the beginnings of humanity. It's an amazing place, a must-see for everybody. It's in Otrabanda.
In Punda you will find the oldest continually operating synagogue in the western hemisphere. Awesome! And it has a fine museum. Presumably on Friday evening you would encounter a service there.
Please, can somebody tell David how to store luggage at the Curacao airport?
Remember to allow plenty of time to return to the airport to check in for your flight. DAE has been known to overbook, so check in early. In fact, double check your reservation at the ticket office before you leave the airport too.

I say find a beach, put on your bathing suits, don the snorkeling gear and get wet:-) Just my 2 cents worth:-) Maybe someone can post info on beaches that are open to the public for snorkeling (provided of course there is a place to store your luggage while you are doing so) :-) I would think that with 9 hours, you would have plenty of time to do some fun things rather than staying at the airport for 6 or 7 hours...that sounds pretty bleh to me...make the day an adventure and please report back all the cool things you did so you can share with others your experience:-)

There are lockers at the end of the terminal.exit terminal turn left, go past check-in counters, you will see a small area with lockers. you will need change for them and I can't remember the price (it's cheap) there is a store near there where you could get the right amount needed. Also divi has a 3.30pm flight to bonaire if I'm correct. Try contacting them.

The Sea Aquarium next to Breezes is also nice to visit (a good review of the fish you're going to see). Buses run frequently on the island ....I have photos of Curacao here: http://www.pbase.com/snorkelady/curacao_2005
