Does anyone know if I can bring my knitting on the plane? Small scissors to cut the yarn? We are flying AA but they don't seem to know. Thanks.

Knitting are permitted on planes. I had to look them up on the TSA site for a friend of mine.

Constance my mom took them on our trip 2 years ago on AA/AE to St. Maarten. I don't know if she had small scissors to cut the yarn or not.

From the AA site

quote:

Scissors and Tools: Metal scissors with a cutting edge of four inches or less and tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches and pliers smaller than seven inches will be allowed on board. Scissors longer than four inches and tools such as crowbars, drills, hammers, and saws will continue to be prohibited from carry-on bags.

Crowbars?

Here is the TSA site

Dang, I just don't know how I can fly without several crowbars in my carry ons.
Keep checking the TSA site, Constance, because the rules keep changing. What was true two months ago, not to mention two years ago, is not going to be true now, except by some fluke.

I usually crochet with my crow bars, but knit with my needles. To be extra safe, bring your plastic ones on board.

Scissors, get a pair of children's with rounded blunt ends, got mine at Target/kmart I get stopped constantly going in and out of Washington DC but they NEVER take them, as they did my finger nail scissors.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Lydia, I had the same thought about the scissors. They would work fine for what little I would need them for. Now I have to come up with a good project for the flight, not too involved but fun. Not too big but time consuming. Any suggestions anyone?
