In today's Fort Worth paper (http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/13591070.htm)there is an article regarding new service by Spirit Airlines DFW-SJU via Fort Lauderdale.

According to the Spirit website, the price for a departure on 17 January and a return on 18 January is US$ 372.00.

For those who do not mind an extra stop (vs. AA non-stop DFW-SJU), this might offer an alternative to getting to SJU and choosing options on to BON.

I have not checked the price on AA, but my impression is that the US$ 372.00 might be a good price, without consideration for the routing. There are others on Bonaire Talk who are much more adept at finding good airline prices.

Charles, did you really mean 17 January down and 18 January back? Why would anyone fly to Bonaire for one night?

Tish -

Certainly a good question!

I picked the overnight trip, and dates, just to check rates.

It would be an early start leaving DFW at 6:00am, but as I said, for those preferring to trade schedule and routing for dollars, it might be a new option.

No option but American Eagle from SJU to BON unless there's something new. $300 and change for that flight, BTW

Seb -

Yes, I understand that AE is the only game in town directly from SJU to BON.

I wonder if there are not some options from SJU to Aruba or Curacao, and then on to BON?

Those would be routes more tedious than we would choose, but others may have differing criteria. And it might well be that if you went through CUR or AUB the cost would be the same or more than AE directly into BON from SJU.

I only posted the original information because options from the U.S. to BON are limited and I thought any new option might be worthy of investigation.

Yeah,Charles, it is tempting to try Spirit and go elsewhere some pretty cheap fares to the islands.
Spirit does have cheap business flights, but the changing airlines, Yikes!
