I thought I'd bring this topic back up to the top -- just to encourage anyone with any information at all about this project to post. I've emailed for information on the airlift site (www.bonaireairliftconsortium.com) but never received a response. Last post on this board indicated that the charter schedule has been pushed to January. Does anyone have additional details? I can get to Miami or Fort Lauderdale on a local charter (from Minneapolis) easily, and unless I can find a "hot deal" on a charter to Aruba, all of our other flight options to Bonaire are really pricey or painfully long.

I e-mailed them twice over the last few months, with no response. Despite the web site I wonder if the airlift will actually get off the ground.

Hi. I live near Liz and we got to talking about the airlift charter. Here is what she told me...

The airlift is a done deal. They are waiting to get a "PC number" from the Department of Transportation (DOT). The reason they haven't been able to say much is because the DOT will fine them $2500 per day for either advertising or taking reservations before this PC number is assigned. The name of the company is BonUSA Charters and a web site is being developed - an 800 number already exists but can't be published until the PC number is assigned. The DOT is advising that this number will be assigned by the end of this week.

The Bonaire Airlift Consortium is no longer involved in this planning but Liz has hired an airlift specialist who is operating as the company's operations manager.

The charter will begin on January 21, 2006 and go thru April 22, 2006. However, if there is enough feedback/requests - the opportunity exists to continue the charter.

It will originate in Ft. Lauderdale and the cost will be USD 549 + taxes. Flights will depart Bonaire approximately 11am and return to Ft. Lauderdale at appx. 5:30 pm. and will fly Saturday to Saturday.

If anyone is interested in being put on a wait list (until the PC number is assigned), they should log onto Bonairecharters@yahoo.com and provide names of passengers, dates, and contact information. These people will be contacted with confirmation.

Also, I'd like to strongly note that I have no affiliation with this charter or any of Liz's companies. Just thought I'd pass on some useful information.

Hope it helps !

Annette

Annette, thanks for the info... do you know what time it leaves Fort Lauderdale and arrives in BON (or did I just misread what you said about times in your post)?
