Just tried to do a search for Miami to Bonaire with Air Jamaica on Expedia.com, but got "No Flights Found" result back. I also trie Ft. Lauderdale to Bonaire, but got the same.

I did the same search for Baltimore to Bonaire, and got successful results no prob.

Any ideas why no MIA-BON flights?

For some reason, AJ won't guarantee the connection time between Miami and Bonaire or Ft. Lauderdale and Bonaire - those are the only two for which that holds true, as I understand it. Kind of sad, actually...

David, I was saying that Miami was giving me "No Flights" but yes BWI was successful (read my message again!).

Yes, I have BWI tickets with AJ too. My friend is in Miami, and is trying to get tickets on AJ, but is getting "No Flights" message.

Jake,

Does this go back to earlier discussions
where several people, including you, agreed
that while Expedia, etc., don't list the
connection it actually is bookable and
'generally' honored at Montego Bay by AJ?? I
think you just spoke of a successful
somewhere here including a delay inbound.
Your post makes it sound impossible to fly AJ
through MIA.

Scott,

The purpose of my comment is to say that
there is a way--check with a search on 'Air
Jamaica' here--it will produce many hits but
several will say 'go for it' and tell how it has
been done.

From what I have found ... AJ from Miami would not show up because you first have to go through Kingston ... then to Montego Bay... then Bonaire ... and the reserve flight on your return ... and that the return is not necessarily gauranteed on that same day if delays in and out of Kingston ...

Glen,

I believe that earlier discussion was in reference to other gateways, where that still may hold true. However, according to a number of the resorts here on Bonaire offering AJ packages, Miami is no longer a viable AJ connection to Bonaire, same day, that is.

We too had difficulty trying to book AJ through Expedia - the only thing that it would let us do is to book one flight to Montego Bay and then another from Montego to Bonaire. It would not give us an add on fare to Bonaire so was very expensive. We tried through a number of different gate way cities with no luck. Some of the problem appeared to be the connection times. It was further complicated by the connections in Montego Bay. Nothing seemed to get us to Montego Bay on the same day as the Bonaire flight. Has anyone had any luck going with AJ from Toronto or Winnipeg to Bonaire(without it being part of a hotel package)? This year we are settling for ALM again but hope to try AJ in next year.

I booked Ft.L to Bonaire with Expedia in October and everything was fine. I wasn't allowed to book MIA-Bonaire because the actual departure time from Mobay (on the return) was earlier, by a few minutes, than the scheduled arrival time from Bonaire...which made that leg impossible without overnighting...

call Caradonna Caribbean Tours at 800 328-2288 and let her book the tix. It will be the same price and you will get ab immediate confirmation.

Local hoteliers hav told me that AJ has discontinued alowing connections from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale on the same day to Bonaire. The reasoning being the tight connection. They have not ruled out adding them back if they change the flight schedules in the future.

They did add in Phoenix and Boston connector flights.

Los Angeles is Saturday only.

What is the scoop on AML these days? We will be flying with them in 2 weeks and haven't heard anything in awhile. Three weeks ago, I e-mailed them to ask for, and got, seat assignments in hopes of reducing the chances of getting bumped. This was important to us as we are a party of four, including 2 small children. We have a lot of connections to make on the return trip and would be in trouble if we didn't make it to Miami within a couple hours of our scheduled time. On the way down, the web site shows all the flights being full so if we got bumped we might not get on another flight that day! We have flown ALM 3 times before and never had a problem. Are we pushing the odds?

We just flew alm and our flight times on the way down were fine but on the way home we were delayed for a while causing some missed connecitons in Miami for some people. Be sure to pack the important things in a carryon. They left our luggage behind on the way down with atleast 25 other people. We arrived at 5:30 and didn't get to the hotel till 8:30 because of all the mess.We didn't get it till Monday afternoon and we had to go get it! They also left the luggage behind on the way back home but this time they actually read a list of people that it happened to before you left the plane so you didn't have to waste all the time looking for it. We got home on Saturday night and I just had my luggage to where I worked a few minutes ago! It was an alm nightmare and next year we will go air jamaica or gwv. We will even go alm again if we have to because once you are there, Bonaire is worth it!!!!

Thanks for the update Darlene. It sounds as though ALM is operating "normally"! Late luggage I can live with - we always have well packed carry on since it is twenty hour trip for us! At least you can get your bags within 24 hours while in Bonaire. Our Miami connection time is 2.5 hours so we have some room to play! I have had worse problems on other airlines! Sounds like the rest of the trip went great!
