It's back on. I just reconfirmed my Sat. flights for next Jan.2006. I think they heard Continental's footsteps.

Good news, Stuart! BTW, did you know Divi now has the heavy wall curtains up on the kitchen/back door side, too, to block out the sun and the outdoor light? It's terrific...total darkness when you want it. The curtain slides open and closed as does the one on the glass doors. I was pleasantly surprised to see the new addition when we were there a few weeks ago. No longer have to "improvise" and hang towels and the like to keep the brightness out at night and in the morning!

Have a great trip. Wish we were returning that quickly...Ayo. Carole

Yes, I read your thread a few days ago. That is good news. They were also putting up thatched umrbellas by the pool- casino deck. Did they ever do that. Also I hear the new dock is nice. They were working on it last Jan. We go for 2 weeks every Jan. This will be our 19th year. Shame Frits is gone. Take care, Stu

Stu, they have finished the thatched umbrellas...I can't recall if there is one or two at the pool/casino area. I'll have to get out the digitals from our recent trip and check it out.

The new dock is great. Much larger and more lockers for the divers. I do miss that cute little hut from before, tho. It was priceless!

The new area by the dive shop is nice, too. Lots of the heavy wooden chairs, tables, bar chairs and swing/hammock thingies, too. Most are in the shade under the thatched roof but a couple are on the railing by the water under the sun/stars. it is nice even tho it does block part of our view from our unit. I guess that is the trade-off, tho! Frits did so many wonderful things while he was managing the Divi...his successor will have a very large plate to fill. I have faith, tho.

Everything on the property was very clean, newly painted and just wonderful this year.

They are/were working on the room(s) above the dive shop while we were there...totally gutted it and redoing the whole thing. I think it will be the conference center and maybe some other things. We did have some jackhammers and buzz saws while we were there but we survived. I would imagine they should be done with that project by now if not shortly.

I want to be back there right now!! Ayo. Carole

Thanks...the area by the dock was done when we were there in Jan. It seems that the lockers are sufficient on the new dock from what you said. I know Frits had plans to gut the timeshare rooms and somehow make the bathrooms larger etc..he showed me the blueprints..but that would mean the timeshares would be closed for a while while they did the renovations which are sorely needed. I go down now with my son and his young family and we are in room 717 and 716 so we have the whole lower deck by the Jacuzzi which is great. We actually have a group of about 20 couples that belong to our "January Gang" that we meet every year for the past 15years or so,fromall over the sates and Canada. We've gotten close to a number of them and Bonaire also feels like our second home. Any, take care...Stu
