But, having just done the L.A. to Bonaire thing last week, you have a couple of options:

1) If you don't mind a red-eye flight (or don't want to spend the money for a hotel night en route to Bonaire), fly out of L.A. the night before you want to be on Bonaire on American, and either connect in through San Juan, Puerto Rico to Bonaire (long lay over in San Juan or Miami or Dallas this way), or connect in Miami to Curacao, and then take Divi Divi (www.baibini.com) from Curacao to Bonaire. (I did the latter)

2) If you hate red eye flights, take a daytime flight to Miami or San Juan, spend the night and part of the next day relaxing and then connect via San Juan to Bonaire or via Curacao and Divi Divi.

Coming back is a lot easier. Just take American from Bonaire via San Juan to DFW and then L.A. Get's you in in the evening at LAX.
