With all the AJ talk, I'm getting worried. I have tickets on them in July (a long way off when they are talking about AJ going under). So my question is: do any of you have any experience with trip insurance, and having to use it. In particular, I'm thinking someone may have had it/used it when DCA went under.

All advice welcome.

I always get trip insurance, but fortunately have never had to use it. www.travelguard.com is the site for the insurance I get. It is cheap peace of mind, especially when traveling AJ.

My wife and I always buy insurance. We have had to use it twice out of the last 4 trips. First time when we went Philly to Aruba - Aruba to Bonaire. USAir left 3 hours late from Philly and we missed the BE connection to Bonaire. The insurance paid for the hotel and dinner. Then in Sept 2004 - we were at the Divi Flamingo when hurricane Ivan came. AJ had cancelled flights for the next 6 days. The insurance paid for the extra nights and for the meals. It is nice to have - in case something goes wrong. We used www.travelinsured.com .

Carl S...because of your post we just went in and purchased the airline ticket protection policy with www.travelinsured.com. We have been fortunate to never need to use it for the last 8 trips to Bonaire but because of all the talk about airlines our luck for the 9th trip might not be so good. Thanks again for the info.

Carl S. Thanks for the information. I've purchased plane ticket protection also. The company you mentioned had the best prices I've seen.

Thanks again!

My wife and I buy the insurance because of the health of our parents. In case - something should happen right before a trip or during a trip. Fortunately - the insurance paid off for 'other' reasons.
