Hello! I'm flying to Bonaire in May and need to get from Curacao to Bonaire. Everyone talks about BonaireExel, and the troubles, changes, etc.

What about Divi Divi? What is their reputation? Should I book with them or wait for the fallout with the Exel transfers?

Thanks;
Cathy

Divi Divi is excellent. I fly them on average from CUR-BON once a month (connecting from the AA flight from Miami to Curacao). The only difficulty is that they are so popular that you have to book them well in advance these days. Also, their last flight is at 5pm (they only fly during daylight I guess). The 5pm is the best flight to make the connection from the AA flight. The 12:45 or 1:15pm BON-CUR flight (not sure exactly what time it is at present) is good for making the AA flight from Curacao to Miami.

We love Divi Divi too! Have used them to connect with AA flights through Curacao twice now and can't speak highly enough of them. Prompt, and excellent service. But, as Jake said, book early!

I'm flying Divi for the 1st time this July. I have already made my reservations. How many seats are on their planes?
Having never flown them before, I'm a little worried about my reservation, since you pay at the counter prior to departure. From everything I've heard though, our reservations should be fine. I've written them and confirmed our reservations once already...I'd just hate to get there and them not have my reservation!

The only way to fly.
Nine seater flight. We made reservations from Canada and arrived the day Bonaire Excel cancelled their flights.
They had our booking and didn't give it up to all the angry passengers that couldn't get to Bonaire.
They even made an extra flight to help out with folks left in Curacao.
Very nice people and I wouldn't worry at all.

I used them once, but I will be using them more often if I'm stick on Curaçao in stead of Bonaire, great crew, very professional and on time. No long lines to wait in.

Thanks to everyone for all their input! I've contacted Divi Divi to get reservations!

This is a great resource!

What's going on with DIVI DIVI. Han-Barth and Karla are usually so prompt in replying. No replies to 3 emails since last week. Flu season?

Hans and Karla sold Divi Divi last summer, Wally. The address you should be e-mailing to to get hold of the charming Germaine and her equally charming sister Danielle is flydivi@interneeds.net - they are slower on e-mail than Karla was, but I still typically get a reply within 24 hours.

Well I just heard from Germaine and the 3:30 and 5:00 on the 24th are booked.....we land at CUR at 2:50
AND there first BON to CUR is 10:15AM. We leave CUR on the 3rd at 8:35AM.

Any ideas here...I would even pay a local pilot to ferry us in a private plane (thinking Cessna 172RG size)

BonairExel? They have a 5pm CUR BON.

That 8:35AM on the 3rd will be tough. There's a 7am BonairExel flight (it's been more or less on time the last several times I've been at the airport on the AE flight leaving at the same time) - that will make for a tight connection in Curacao though if you're checking bags (which I know you are). Was the BON-SJU flight on April 3rd full?

Call BonairExel directly (011-599-717-0707) to book and see if you can use the U.S. ticketing option that Gregg Brewer posted around here somewhere.

Just did the reservations online with Excel...think that will work? It WILL be tight on the return baggage check

Didn't check on the BON-SJU-MIA leg the last few times. I've been enjoying the early to BON benefit of the JAX-MIA-CUR route lately. I did the JAX-MIA-SJU-BON route 3 times (1) arrived BON at midnight (2) arrived at 10:30 at night and (3) arrived 20 hours late via the SJU Marriott and Aruba.

Been checking and AA can't get me from BON to JAX via SJU and MIA on the 3rd in a single day time frame....so I will just have to do CUR baggage form Excel to AA in 1 hour unless somebody comes up with another option. Oh well...I always prefer to lose bags on the way home.

Thanks for the advice on Divi Divi so far. I have reservations for June 4th (CUR-BON) and June 12 (BON-CUR). Does anyone know their luggage weight limits? As a diver, I usually have one large bag (about 50 lbs) and a fairly heavy carry-on (about 15 -18 lbs).

They will ultimately fit all your bags in, but it may take an extra trip. When we've come back from a family vacation, we usually loaded with our full AA allotment of 8 checked bags at 69.5 pounds each, and they've always gotten it to us on Bonaire (almost always on the flight with us). No extra fees either.
