Any ideas on how I can stay longer. I'm scheduled to return to Rochester, NY on 3/6 and I don't want to go home yet....

My 30 day ticket expires 3/7, and American has given me two options: buy a new one-way ticket ($500+/-) or extend my ticket --- for a low rate of $725 extra!!! They'll also let me extend for ONE day for $100 extra. Neither sound very good.

I've been on the internet and searched everywhere I could. I'd be willing to go for $250-300 extra, and could stay one or two weeks more if I could find some way to do so in that range.

Any ideas anyone?

As you can see, PBD has already set in BIG TIME.
Having a great time!!

Josie

Josie,

Try buying a roundtrip ticket from Bonaire to Rochester & back, and then only fly the leg up. Probably will still be same as the one-way ticket though...

Still in Bonaire. I went to the airport yesterday and changed my return --- I'm staying another 15 days. I just was NOT ready to go home. Had to buy a whole new one-way ticket, but it's only money.

We had a friend who was diagnosed with a very nasty brain tumor mid-January. Well, Doug died three weeks ago, less than a month after diagnosis. When I was trying to decide whether to stay or go, I went to the beach at sunset, and he came to mind. After a little cry, I knew that I had to stay. Life is just too DAMN short to worry about the cost of something that's important. Alan is very supportive, and he knows I'm safe and comfortable down here.

The ticket didn't end up nearly as expensive as American had told me (a local agent at the airport found something much better --- one way to Rochester, same schedule as before, just 15 days later). Everything conspired to turn out so well, I know I made the right decision.

Off for a dive now....

Josie, so sorry to hear about brain cancer taking another person. We lost a very dear friend (and Bonaire person) a few years ago. You did the right thing - Enjoy Bonaire, have a GREAT dive!
Ride more merry-go-rounds, small more daisys, do more dives....

Thanks for the kind thoughts everyone.

Ellen, yes, I should be completing the Advanced Open Water. I'll be doing the Peak Performance Bouyancy dive on Thursday morning. Have already done the Navigation and Naturalist dives. Have to do the Deep dive and I think the other one I'll do will be the Wreck Dive. I'm so glad I'm not going to be on the plane tomorrow morning!
