I have the chance to use FF miles for a May vacation, but can only get to Aruba. We were planning to fly Bonaire Excel from Aruba to Bonaire and do the reverse on our return trip. Checking out the Bonaire Excel web site, I find I am limited to one checked bag of 20 kilos and one carry on of 10 kilos. As this is going to be a four week stay, we both dive and are UW photographers, this weight limit seems not do-able. Anyone familiar with other airlines flying Aruba/Bonaire that have less restrictive weight policies? All suggestions are appreciated.

Ron, if you email BonairExel and alert them that you are divers you will be allowed extra weight in your checked bag. The usual is 44 pounds but they will allow you 66 pounds. You must make the arrangements ahead of time so it is noted on your reservation and in their computer. Also, with the approval for additional weight you can split it between two bags. We did this last summer with no problems.

Ron,

If you are clever.....take a carry-on bag and load as much heavy stuff into the carry-on after you arrive in Aruba...don't take the carry-on to the check in counter (or they will include it in your total weight)...take your carry-on to the plane...they will take the carry-on at the plane from you and give it back to you in bonaire (without weighing it)...

Ron, remember that's 66 pounds total weight, not per bag.
