I recently ran a search for airfares on ORBITZ to Bonaire. They still listed connections via DCA. I wrote them & said that I had heard they weren't going to be flying any more. Here is the response:
Dear Orbitz Member,

Thank you for contacting Orbitz.

Please note, there is no immediate impact on Dutch Caribbean Airlines or
network. No announcements have been made at this time by DCA if there
will be any impact at all. There is no change to Dutch Caribbean
Airlines tickets/rules/policies.

Please check latest updates under the 'News & Guides' tab on the Orbitz
home page on a regular basis for more information.

We value you as a customer and look forward to serving you again in the
future.

Sincerely,

Shelton

Did you send them a copy of the link to the article in Amigoe about them ceasing operations? :-)

Jake

No I didn't. I think their aware of it and still trying to get sales on a know defunct airline. I assumed as much when I saw that my searches still has DCA connections. Thanks to this board I will not be suckered! You would think that after I told them I knew DCA was done that they would have found something out. Buyer beware!

Of course, it is just possible that Orbitz is waiting on an official notice from DCA and that DCA is just disorganized, slow, or whatever enough that they have not sent such a notification. History would show that buyers had best beware of DCA.

The official DCA announcement says that for the moment they will continue some local flights ... but honestly, even that I would not take.... the week end flights to Bonaire: scheduled arrival 8 am --- they came at 2.30 pm !!! and I think they had 1 more flight late in the evening !! The flight to Caracas on Saturday was cancelled, they did fly with a delay on Sunday ....
No Miami flights for a week now -- is said in the news papers .... but even the local flights can stop any moment. The offical bankrupcy will be declared on the latest on Friday

We saw two different DCA flights departing from Curacao on Saturday afternoon. There was also about 20 people waving tickets at the DCA connections desk as we passed through. Too risky for me.

Buyer Beware..... of third party merchants...Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, etc.
We experience numerous errors on our end (hotel).

I use them as a search then call the airline or hotel direct and usually receive an equal or better rate.

In all news papers today:
The last flight of DCA was on Tuesday evening.
Yesterday DCA has been officially declared bankrupt.

I have been an Orbitz customer for years and until recently received good service and value. However, I double checked their rates for roundtrip air from Atlanta to Portland in June and found a much better rate from Delta themselves. Also, I too noted they are still advertising DCA flights from Curacao to Bonaire. I have cancelled mine and have new reservation with BonairExel. Orbitz has not responded to my inquiry about their DCA listings. I think they may have grown past their usual personal service and value.

I just received my response from Tony at Orbitz. He said the problem is that the airlines do the posting to the Orbitz site and DCA is therefore, responsible. I seriously question this response and if that is the case; where is Orbitz responsibility for false information. Again, another instance of buyer beware.

There are lots of web sites with strange information. There are even Travel sites showing still the Sunset Beach hotel!!!
I guess that Orbitz works like a lot of the sites. A buisiness owner can add his buisiness (with or without a link to his own site, depending on the site and/or depening on the fee the buisiness is willing to pay) and some of these sites do, others don't check before adding this new web site and than as long as the buisiness owner pays his yearly fee (at some sites there is only a fee to be added at the beginning) and/or his commission he stays on the site.
