My wife and I are planning on doing the Miami-Curacao-Bonaire journey, the last leg via Divi Air.

We understand there are ample groceries, supplies, etc. on Bonaire. However, in order to cut down on costs, maximize convenience, we typically pack pre-made frozen meals and other sealed non-spoilable food, etc. from home in wheeled luggage & coolers. Between that and our dive gear the US carrier 70 lb limit per checked bag is usually pretty much maxxed out.

Does Divi have any baggage weight limits? We have tried contacting Divi via email to no avail, so we would appreciate any insight from anyone with Divi experience.

Thanks!

Hi Bob,

Divi Divi changed ownership about a month ago, so I'm not sure what's going on with them.

The latest e-mail address I have for them is flydivi@interneeds.net

With the previous owners, they had no fixed bag weight/size limitations, and if all your bags didn't fit on the flight you were on, they would get there on the next flight (these are small, 9 passenger planes). Not sure if that has changed at all under the new ownership.

Jake

I believe Air Jamaica is three checked at 70 pounds each. That's what they told me last August.

Divi Divi has (had?) two planes:

a BN-300 Islander, which has 10 seating positions (one seat is in use by the pilot, thus Jake's count of 9 passengers).

a Cessna plane that has 8 seats, which when the pilot is counted results in 7 passengers.

My two flights on Divi have been on the Islander. First flight was not great... the winds were very strong that day... felt like the plane was working very hard to get over to Bonaire.

Hi all,

Here the new owner of Divi Divi Air.
Service remains the same.
You can reach us on flydivi@interneeds.net
And yes the aircraft are small, but that's the service we provide. High frequency and service between Curacao and Bonaire.

See you on one of our flights.....

Bob, I also fly to and from Bonaire through CUR., and for the past several years have flown Divi Divi. The last round trip was in early October. They are great. The service is extremely reliable. I have never had to leave baggage behind for a later flight, though it is possible that it could happen. Overall, I have found Divi Divi to be an excellent carrier. During my most recent trip, they really went the extra mile by putting on an extra flight at my urging. This was at the end of Regatta, and they actually sold out the extra flight, which was good for them, but when then agreed to put it on, I was the only person actually confirmed. They are very cooperative.
