Has anyone taken the Ferry between Curacao and Bonnaire? I can't get a flight into Bonnaire. I'd like to know how the ferry trip went and how much it costs for a round trip.

Thanks

Hi Rachel.

I recently took the ferry from Bon to Cur and then back to Bon. The ride to Curacao was great with a beautiful sunrise to guide us along. The ride back to Bonaire was an entirely different story. We had to sit inside because the waves would have soaked us otherwise. The air conditioning was turned so low we were shivering. Then there was the issue of sea-sickness. It was all I could do to not make use of the bags provided but my companion filled 6 of them. In looking around at the other passengers, she wasn't alone. The problem is, once you're on - you can't say "Stop - I want to get off !!" You're on for the long haul. The slowness of ticketing and checking id (both in Bonaire and again in Curacao) I could live with....those of us who live on Bonaire know all about island time and many of us have grown to love it. So in ending, my advise would be this: If you MUST take the ferry from Curacao to Bonaire....arm yourself with some sort of seasick preventative and a warm sweater. (By the way - I'd heard that seasick pills were available on the ferry but they were never brought out - and anyway it would have been too late unless you got them on the way to Curacao for the return trip.) For myself - once was enough :-)

Very important on the seasickness pills as mentioned you need to take them about a 1/2 hour before the rock-n-roll trip starts. A friend told me they offered her some on board but only after the journey had started.

If you forgot to bring some, I have found Dramamine in the airport shop near ticketing in Curacao.
